The Sacramento River Cats erased a two-run deficit in the top of the ninth, scoring four runs — capped by Bo Davidson's tie-breaking three-run home run — to beat the Reno Aces 9-7 on Sunday afternoon at Greater Nevada Field.
Davidson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and five RBIs, his biggest hit coming off Aces closer Drey Jameson with no outs in the ninth. The River Cats (74-55) took four of six in the series and maintained their hold on second place in the Pacific Coast League West.
How It Unfolded
Reno struck first in the second inning on a Pavin Smith RBI single, then put up three in the third. Tyler Locklear crushed a two-run homer in the fifth — his ninth of the season — and A.J. Vukovich added two RBIs as part of a 3-for-5 day. The Aces (58-73) led 7-5 entering the ninth.
Sacramento chipped away all afternoon. Diego Velasquez went 3-for-5 with a double and a run. Scott Bandura doubled and scored twice. Will Brennan tripled and doubled, driving in a run. A game that flipped entirely in the ninth. The Aces had control behind Locklear and Conticello's bats but couldn't close it out. Davidson's three-run shot was the decisive blow — and Jameson's inability to find the zone turned a save situation into a blown lead that Reno could not recover from.
