Litvínov Strike Twice in 16 Seconds
{{homeTeam}} brought full intensity to the decisive game and showed it on the very first shift. In the 3rd minute (2:21) Ondřej Jurčík opened the scoring unassisted, and 16 seconds later (2:37) David Kaše finished a sequence from Nicolas Hlava and brother Ondřej for 2:0. The sold-out Ivan Hlinka Winter Stadium roared, and {{awayTeam}} were already chasing.
Sukeľ's Power-Play Goal Closes the First at 3:0
In the 14th minute captain Matúš Sukeľ converted the first power play of the night from Moravčík and Ondřej Kaše to make it 3:0. The Slovak forward was the engine of Verva throughout the series, and his strike here essentially put the game out of reach.
Gut and Polášek Push It to 5:0
In the 23rd Michal Gut made it 4:0 with assists from Markus Hännikäinen and Theodor Pištěk. {{awayTeam}} pushed for a response but in the 38th defenceman Adam Polášek (Sukeľ) finished the scoring from the blue line on the power play. The third period was quiet — Litvínov simply ran out the clock on the series.
Coach Petr: "The Start Was Decisive"
"The key was our start. We had quick zone entries and spread the play across the whole ice," Litvínov coach Jakub Petr said. Jihlava's Viktor Ujčík conceded: "The 5-minute major was the nail in the coffin. Litvínov controlled the series from there."
What It Means
Litvínov keep their Extraliga place — held continuously since 1959 — and Verva clinched the series 4:1. {{awayTeam}} fall short of promotion for the second consecutive year and will return to the Maxa league. Goalie Pavel Čajan's shutout was the punctuation mark of the comeback story; captain Matúš Sukeľ, the Slovak forward, was among the most productive skaters across the series.
