Hrosi Brno vs Draci Brno

After splitting the opening two games — Draci took Game 1 5-3 at MBS on Friday, Hroši levelled the series with a 12-5 rout on Saturday — Sunday's Game 3 was a far tighter, lower-scoring affair befitting a playoff elimination match.

Hroši struck first, plating two runs in the bottom of the second inning. A leadoff double put a runner in scoring position, and a subsequent RBI single opened the scoring. A sacrifice fly brought home the second run, handing Hroši a 2-0 lead before Draci could settle.

Draci responded in the top of the fourth. A leadoff walk and a stolen base put a runner on second, who was driven home by a two-out RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1. It was the only damage they could manage against the Hroši pitching staff.

The game remained on a knife-edge through the middle innings. Both teams threatened but could not break through until the bottom of the seventh, when Hroši added an insurance run on an RBI groundout to push the lead to 3-1.

The Hroši bullpen shut the door from there, retiring the side in order in the eighth and ninth to seal the victory.

Draci had runners on the corners with one out in the top of the sixth, trailing 2-1 and sensing a breakthrough. But Hroši's pitcher induced a 6-4-3 double play — shortstop to second base to first — that ended the inning and crushed the visitors' momentum. Draci never threatened again.

Lukáš Pacal (Hroši Brno) — The Hroši starter earned the win, working 6⅓ innings while allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked two, keeping the Draci lineup off balance all afternoon.

Tomáš Ondra (Draci Brno) — The losing pitcher gave his team a chance, limiting Hroši to three runs over seven innings. He struck out four but was undone by the lack of run support and the costly double play in the sixth.

Roberto Alvarez (Hroši Brno) — The Hroši catcher drove in the first run of the game with a second-inning single and called a masterful game behind the plate, guiding the pitching staff through a tense playoff contest.

Jakub Winkler (Draci Brno) — The Draci catcher collected two of his team's five hits and drove in their lone run. He was the only Draci batter with multiple hits on the day.

The 3-1 scoreline tells the story of a game dominated by pitching and defence after the offensive fireworks of Saturday's 12-5 Hroši victory. Both teams managed to keep the ball in the yard — no home runs were hit — and the game was decided by timely hitting with runners in scoring position. Hroši went 2-for-7 with RISP; Draci managed just 1-for-6. The decisive double play in the sixth inning was a four-run swing in terms of win expectancy.

Hroši Brno now lead the best-of-five semifinal series 2-1 and need one more win to advance to the Extraliga championship final against the winner of Kotlářka Praha vs Eagles Praha. Game 4 will be played at Draci's MBS home field on Friday 28 August at 19:00. If necessary, Game 5 returns to Hroši on Saturday 29 August.

Draci, who finished the regular season third (21-14, .600) behind Hroši (22-13, .629), now face elimination. They will need to win back-to-back games — the first on the road from a series perspective — to keep their season alive.

For the betting audience: Hroši's momentum after two straight wins, combined with home-field advantage in a potential Game 5, makes them strong favourites to close the series out. However, Draci's 31-19 head-to-head advantage over the two clubs' 50 all-time meetings (since 2022) is a reminder of the historical edge they carry into elimination games.

A classic playoff arm-wrestle. Hroši got quality pitching, played clean defence, and made the one big play when it mattered — the sixth-inning double play. Draci had chances but couldn't get the key hit. With their season on the line, expect a desperate response in Game 4.
