Buffalo Bisons vs Lehigh Valley IronPigs

King (8-6) delivered six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out four. He retired Buffalo in order in three of his six frames and never faced more than four batters in an inning.

Lehigh Valley broke the deadlock in the fourth. Colby Thomas singled with one out and advanced to second on a groundout before Christian Cairo drove him home with an RBI double to left-centre.

Kameron Misner extended the lead in the fifth with his 17th home run of the season, a two-run shot that followed a Tommy Pham single. The blast made it 3-0.

The IronPigs added insurance in the seventh when Keaton Anthony lifted a sacrifice fly to score Pham, who had collected his third hit of the night. Paul McIntosh padded the lead in the eighth with an RBI single that brought home Dylan Moore, making it 5-0.

Buffalo finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth. Josh Kasevich singled with one out and scored on Sean Keys' second triple of the season — his 33rd RBI of the campaign — trimming the deficit to 5-1. But the Bisons could not sustain the rally.

Misner's two-run homer in the fifth turned a tight 1-0 game into a 3-0 lead and gave King a comfortable cushion. The Bisons had matched King through four innings, but the home run forced them to play from multiple runs down against a pitcher in full command.

• Grant Rogers (BUF): 6.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. Took the loss (3-10) despite a reasonably solid start undone by the home run.
• Sean Keys (BUF): RBI triple (33rd RBI of season).

The IronPigs out-hit the Bisons 12-7 and committed no errors. The decisive gap came in the middle innings: Lehigh Valley scored four of their five runs between the fourth and seventh frames, while Buffalo managed just one run in the eighth. King faced only one Buffalo runner in scoring position over his six innings, a testament to his command and the Bisons' inability to string together hits.

The win moved Lehigh Valley to 58-62 overall (23-22 in the second half) while Buffalo fell to 60-61 (25-21). The IronPigs have now won 26 of 50 meetings against the Bisons since their rivalry began in 2024. The six-game series continues on Wednesday 19 August at 1:05 p.m. ET, with Drake Fellows scheduled to start for Lehigh Valley against Josh Stephan for Buffalo.

King was the story — six zeros against a Bisons side that entered with 25 second-half wins. Lehigh Valley's offence gave him early support and never let up, while Buffalo never found an answer to King's fastball command. A clean, efficient win for the IronPigs to open a critical road series.
