Macerata vs Parma

6th inning: Morresi (finishing 4-for-5) singled, Fabrizio singled, and back-to-back Parma errors on the infield brought two more runs home — 6–0.

8th inning: Concepcion doubled and Fabrizio drove him in with a single — 7–0.

9th inning: Parma avoided the shutout. Angioi drew a walk, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on Garcia's two-out single — the only hit Parma managed all night. Pulido then struck out Leonora to end it.

The game was effectively decided in the first inning when Macerata scored without a clean hit — capitalizing on Parma's defensive miscues. That inning set the tone: Madan never let Parma breathe, and the Macerata lineup kept adding runs.

The decision to start Frank Madan, who had taken a loss in relief during Game 1 against Nettuno in the quarterfinals, proved inspired. He threw 7 scoreless, hitless innings — a no-hit bid broken only by the bullpen's concession of a ninth-inning run.

The 7–1 scoreline understates Macerata's dominance. Madan faced the minimum through much of his outing, allowing only one baserunner until the 9th. Parma's defense contributed four errors — their third consecutive game with multiple defensive lapses — and stranded runners only because they rarely had any. Macerata, by contrast, turned nearly every baserunner into a scoring threat, plating runs in five separate innings. The combined one-hitter was Macerata's best pitching performance of the postseason.

The semifinal is now a best-of-three. Game 5 takes place on 20 August 2026 (tonight) at 21:00 in Macerata. If necessary, Game 6 moves to Parma's Stadio Nino Cavalli on Sunday 23 August at 20:30.

Macerata have reclaimed home-field momentum after dropping Game 3 in extra innings (12–9 on 19 August). Parma, who won the regular-season series and entered as the higher seed, must now win at least one game in Macerata to avoid elimination.

The winner advances to the Italian Baseball Series (Scudetto final) against the winner of the Bologna–San Marino semifinal, which is also tied 2–2.

A statement game from Macerata. Madan's near-no-hitter was the finest individual pitching performance of the 2026 Serie A Gold playoffs, and the lineup gave him early support that made the outcome academic. Parma's defence, which had been erratic all series, collapsed entirely. If Saccardi's side cannot stabilise the infield, Game 5 could end their season earlier than expected.
