Orix closer Anderson Machado entered the ninth protecting a 2-1 lead, but Nevin crushed a 1-0 pitch over the centre-field wall for his 17th home run of the season, tying the game at 2-2. After a walk to Fran Canalio and two quick strikeouts, Genda lined a 1-2 pitch into right field, scoring Canalio from second and triggering the walk-off celebration.

Machado (2-1) took the blown save and the loss, charged with two earned runs on two hits and two walks in 0.2 innings. Kuroki (1-0) earned his first win of the season with a perfect ninth.

Tyler Nevin, Seibu: 2-for-4, solo HR (17th), game-tying blast in the ninth. Nevin has now hit safely in seven consecutive games.

Sosuke Genda, Seibu: 1-for-4, walk-off RBI single in the ninth. The veteran shortstop delivered with two outs after struggling through an 0-for-3 start.

Taiga Hirasawa, Seibu: 2-for-3 with a double, a single and a walk, scoring the Lions' first run.

Kouta Kurebayashi, Orix: 1-for-4, two-run double in the sixth that accounted for all of the Buffaloes' RBIs.

Yutaro Watanabe, Seibu: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 5 K, 2 BB — a quality no-decision start.

Jerry, Orix: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB — a strong outing let down by the bullpen.

Seibu out-hit Orix 7-5 but needed extra chances in the ninth to flip the game. The Lions stranded six runners through eight innings, going 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position before Genda's decisive hit. Orix's pitching staff issued four walks — two of them in the decisive ninth — while the Seibu bullpen issued none. The game lasted 2 hours 55 minutes in front of 26,286 at Belluna Dome.

The win lifted Seibu to 60-47-3, keeping them 7.5 games behind the Pacific League-leading Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks (66-39-1). The Lions hold a slim half-game edge over Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters (61-49-0) for second place. Orix (53-54-2) fell back to .500 in fourth place, now 13.5 games off the lead with the season nearing its final stretch.

Seibu host the Chunichi Dragons on Friday, August 21 in interleague action. Orix travel to face the Yomiuri Giants on the same date.

Seibu rode a solid start from Watanabe and a bullpen shutdown after the sixth to stay within striking distance, then Nevin and Genda delivered when it mattered most. For Orix, Jerry's quality start went unrewarded — a recurring theme for a team fighting to stay above .500.
