Tacoma Rainiers vs Reno Aces

Montes' two-run homer in the third effectively broke Reno's back. The Aces never threatened to score in the first six innings, managing only two hits off Mosser through that span. The 4-0 deficit forced Reno's hand early, and Ashton Izzi (0–2) never found a rhythm, surrendering six runs on seven hits over five innings.

• RHP Gabe Mosser (W, 7–5): 6.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K. His eighth quality start of the season is tied for the third-most in all of Minor League Baseball. Mosser retired the first nine batters he faced and worked around only two baserunners through six.
• OF Lazaro Montes: 1-for-4, HR (10), 2 RBI. Homered for the third consecutive game — the second time he has done so this month. He also recorded his sixth outfield assist since his Triple-A promotion on July 7, the most among all Triple-A outfielders in that span.
• INF/OF Connor Joe: 2-for-4, HR (6), SB, 2 R. Extended his on-base streak to 13 games, hitting .333 (14×42) during the run. His steal of home was Tacoma's second such feat of the season.
• INF Ryan Bliss: 1-for-4, HR (5), 2 RBI. His solo homer capped a three-run fifth and gave the Rainiers their fourth and fifth insurance runs.

Player of the Match: Gabe Mosser — seven zeros to start, one run allowed across 6.2 innings, a quality start that never let Reno breathe.

Tacoma's three home runs accounted for five of their six runs. The Rainiers out-hit Reno 7–3, with only one extra-base hit — a single — for the Aces all night. Tacoma's pitching staff allowed three or fewer hits for the second consecutive game, the first time the franchise has achieved that feat since April 2024. Mosser's quality start was Tacoma's 32nd of the season, the most in the minors and four more than the next-closest affiliate. The Rainiers' 5–0 lead through five innings gave Mosser more than enough cushion, and Reno never put more than one runner on base in any inning until the seventh.

The Rainiers improved to 19–24 in the second half (52–66 overall) and took a 3–1 lead in the six-game series. The Aces dropped to 21–22 in the second half (53–65 overall), snapping a nine-game home-run streak. Tacoma will aim for a series victory Saturday when RHP Carson Fulmer takes the mound against Reno RHP José Cabrera at 6:05 PM PT.

A complete team win sparked by the long ball and anchored by Mosser's quiet dominance. Tacoma's trio of home runs from Joe, Montes and Bliss was more than enough against a Reno offence that never got going. The Rainiers are playing their best baseball of August at exactly the right time.
