The seventh-inning sequence decided the game — but not in the way Hanwha intended. After Perlaza's go-ahead homer flipped momentum to the visitors, Samsung answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half. It was the Lions' ability to immediately neutralise Hanwha's four-run outburst — rather than the outburst itself — that defined the outcome. Bae Chan-seung (배찬승), who pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings bridging the seventh and eighth, was credited with the win.

• Lee Seung-hyun (Samsung) — Emergency relief ace. 5⅔ IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 7 K. Without his extended outing, Samsung's bullpen would have been depleted by the fourth inning.
• Yonathan Perlaza (Hanwha) — His two-run go-ahead homer briefly turned the game, but Hanwha's bullpen couldn't preserve the lead.

Samsung out-hit Hanwha 11–10 and committed no errors (Hanwha had one). The inning-by-inning scores tell the real story: Samsung scored in only three frames (1st, 6th, 7th, 8th) but put up multiple runs in every one. Hanwha's runs were concentrated in two innings (1st and 4th for two, then the seven-run top of the 7th), exposing a lack of sustained pressure. With Lee Seung-hyun soaking up 5⅔ innings in relief, Samsung used only three pitchers total; Hanwha cycled through five.

Samsung's 42nd sellout of the season (15th consecutive) in the 24,000-capacity Daegu stadium also underscored the KBO's surging attendance — the Lions have filled 99.3% of seats this season, eclipsing even the famed Hanwha crowds at their smaller ballpark.

Samsung improved to 62–41–2, remaining second in the KBO standings, half a game behind KT Wiz (61–39–2). The Lions snapped a four-game losing skid earlier in the week and have now won three straight, with home runs from Koo Ja-wook and Choi Hyung-woo signalling a late-season power surge. The team ranks sixth in the KBO in home runs (95) but has gone deep in each game of the current streak.

Hanwha fell to 48–53–3, staying sixth and losing their third consecutive game. The Eagles' playoff push is fading — they sit 4.5 games behind fifth-place Doosan Bears with roughly 25 games remaining.

Both teams play Sunday (16 August) at the same venue in Daegu to close the three-game series.

Samsung showed resilience after losing its starter in the first inning and again after Hanwha's stunning four-run seventh. The Lions' offence — particularly Koo Ja-wook and Choi Hyung-woo — proved too deep for Hanwha's bullpen to contain. If the late-inning power stroke is real, Samsung looks like a genuine title threat in the final weeks of the regular season. Hanwha, by contrast, needs to find consistency from its pitching staff to stay relevant in the playoff race.
