LG Twins vs SSG Landers

The game began as a pitchers' duel between two mid-season foreign arrivals. SSG's Pedro Ávila and LG's Carlos Carrasco traded zeros through four innings, with Ávila carrying a perfect game into the 4th.

Han Yoo-seom (SSG): 2-for-4, HR, RBI. Homered in consecutive games for the first time since 2025, producing a 136.3m solo blast. He also became the 76th player in KBO history to reach 2,000 total bases.

Guillermo Madris (SSG): 2-for-3, BB, HR, RBI. The departing foreign hitter authored a storybook farewell with a home run in what was his final KBO at-bat.

The back-to-back homers by Han Yoo-seom and Madris in the top of the 6th inning turned a manageable 3-0 deficit into a 5-0 rout and ended Carrasco's night at 87 pitches.

Ávila's 7-inning scoreless outing extended his streak to 19 consecutive scoreless innings. He has not allowed a home run in 31⅓ KBO innings. Carrasco had not allowed a home run in his first 13 KBO innings before surrendering two in a three-pitch span. SSG moves to 43-62-4, still in 9th place, but the series win over a top-three opponent provides momentum. This marks SSG's first winning series against LG since July 2022 — ending a nearly four-year drought. LG drops to 58-48-1, remaining 3rd in the KBO standings. SSG faces Lotte Giants next on 18 August, while LG travels to face Samsung Lions on the same date.

Pedro Ávila outpitched a 112-MLB-win veteran in Carrasco, and SSG's pop — from Han and a departing Madris — provided the punctuation. For one weekend at Jamsil, the last-place Landers looked like a team capable of much more.
