Hanwha Eagles vs LG Twins

The Twins put this one away before many fans had settled into their seats. With two on and two out in the top of the first, Moon Jung-bin crushed a first-pitch forkball from Park Jun-young over the left-field wall — a 120-metre, 163 km/h three-run shot that gave LG a 4-0 lead. It was Moon's 15th home run of the season.

The second inning was even more punishing. Lee Ju-heon was hit by a pitch, Shin Min-jae walked, and after a wild pitch advanced both runners, Park Hae-min delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 5-0. Austin Dean walked, and Song Chan-ui followed by launching a 125-metre, 175 km/h three-run homer to left — his 12th of the season — making it 8-0. Park Jun-young was lifted after 1.1 innings, charged with eight earned runs on two hits and three walks.

Hanwha briefly answered in the third, scoring three runs off Carrasco to cut the deficit to 8-3, but LG added one in the fourth and three more in the eighth to complete the rout.

The game was decided in the first two innings. Moon Jung-bin's three-run homer on the first pitch he saw set the tone, and Song Chan-ui's identical blast one inning later buried Hanwha before their offence had a chance to breathe. LG scored eight runs on just four hits and two walks in those two frames, turning what was supposed to be a competitive Sunday fixture into a laugher before the third inning.

Song Chan-ui, LF, LG Twins — 1-for-4, HR (12), 3 RBI. The 27-year-old right-handed slugger crushed his three-run homer 125 metres with a 175 km/h exit velocity, one of the hardest-hit balls of the KBO weekend.

Moon Jung-bin, DH, LG Twins — 1-for-4, HR (15), 3 RBI, 2 R. Moon's 15th homer of the season came on the first pitch he saw, giving LG immediate control.

Carlos Carrasco, SP, LG Twins — The veteran right-hander cruised with a massive lead. Carrasco kept the Hanwha lineup off balance through his start, departing with the win. His exact line was not officially published at the time of writing, but he allowed three earned runs across his outing.

Park Jun-young, SP, Hanwha Eagles — 1.1 IP, 8 ER. The 2003-born righty was chased early after surrendering both three-run homers, walking three and hitting a batter.

LG scored 12 runs on a modest hit total, powered by the two three-run homers that accounted for half their production. The Twins' eight-run outburst over the first two innings marked their highest-scoring opening two frames of the season. Hanwha's three-run third — their only real rally — came with Carrasco on the mound but never seriously threatened the deficit. The Eagles managed just three runs after plating 15 in Friday's series opener against these same Twins.

LG improved to 61-50-1, solidifying their position in the mid-table KBO pack. The Twins have won two of three in this weekend series. Hanwha dropped to 49-57-3, remaining in seventh, and their shrinking playoff hopes face another blow. LG next face the NC Dinos on Tuesday 25 August, while Hanwha travel to face the KT Wiz.
