SSG Landers vs Hanwha Eagles

Once SSG established an early lead, Hanwha's lineup — which scored only two total runs across 18 innings in this two-game set — had no answers.

Noh Kyung-eun (SSG) — The veteran right-hander provided steady relief to earn the win. At 42, Noh (3–5, 4.93 ERA) continues to offer a reliable arm for an SSG bullpen that has struggled to a 5.54 team ERA this season.

Ryu Hyun-jin (Hanwha) — The 39-year-old lefty's season has become a tale of two halves. Over 15 first-half starts, Ryu went 8–2 with a 2.67 ERA. Over five second-half starts before this game, he was 0–2 with a 9.41 ERA and had allowed four or more earned runs in every outing. This start did not break that pattern.

SSG's timely hitting — The Landers scored in multiple innings, converting opportunities with runners in scoring position — a category that has plagued them throughout a difficult season.

The 6–1 scoreline reflected a game that was competitive until SSG's middle-inning rally. Hanwha still hold a 9–4 advantage in the 2026 season series despite dropping consecutive games.

Both teams rank in the bottom third of the KBO in team ERA — Hanwha 8th (4.99), SSG 10th (5.54) — and neither offence ranks above 6th in runs per game. What separated SSG on this night was the ability to execute with runners on base.

Both sides play the third game of their series on August 27 at Incheon SSG Landers Field, with Hanwha seeking to salvage a split.

SSG were sharper in every phase. Ryu's prolonged slump has made Hanwha vulnerable on his starts, and the Eagles' lineup lacked the firepower to compensate.
