UAE's opening surge. Unlike their nervy contest against Kuwait (a 75-72 escape) and the Bahrain loss where they squandered a lead, UAE established dominance from the first whistle. The early margin forced Oman to chase the game, a task that proved beyond a side averaging just 62.5 points per game across the competition.

Omer Alameri continued his strong tournament form. The Shabab Al Ahli forward had led UAE's scoring against Nepal with 23 points, including seven three-pointers, and remained a consistent offensive threat.

Guard DeMarco Dickerson, who posted a game-high efficiency of 31 against Nepal (17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals) and scored 27 against both Kuwait and Bahrain, again proved the creative hub for UAE's offence.

For Oman, Abdul-Rahman Al-Shaaibi (17 points vs Kuwait) and Hadid Bakhit (21 points vs Bahrain) had been their leading scorers in earlier games, but no Omani player could stem the UAE tide on Sunday.

UAE's tournament averages (88.3 points, 51.9% two-point shooting, 32.5% from three, 77.2% free throws) told the story of a side that creates high-quality looks. Against Oman, they exceeded that scoring average by nearly 27 points. Oman's defensive metrics — conceding 42 rebounds and 19.3 assists per game — had been a concern throughout the First Round, and UAE exploited those weaknesses repeatedly.

The 26-point margin reflects the gulf in class between a UAE side with serious Second Round ambitions and an Omani team that struggled to match the physicality of Gulf opponents.

UAE improved to 3-1 in Group A, keeping pace with Bahrain (3-0) and Kuwait (3-1) in the race for Second Round places in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers. The top teams from the group advance to the next stage, scheduled for the November-December 2026 international window.

Oman remain winless at 0-4 and face an uphill battle to avoid finishing at the bottom of the five-team group.

UAE next face Kuwait in another pivotal Gulf derby as the First Round continues. Oman will look for their first win when they meet Nepal.

This was UAE's most complete performance since the opening night rout of Nepal. After the disappointment of the Bahrain loss, coach Mounir Ben Slimane's side showed composure and firepower. For Oman, the gap to the group's stronger Gulf rivals remains significant.
