Amir Saoud (Lebanon) — Player of the Match The 34-year-old Al Riyadi guard was flawless in the first half, scoring 18 points without a miss including 6-of-6 from the line. He finished with a game-high 25 points, a +23 efficiency rating, and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. With Arakji and Lawson absent, Saoud carried the offensive load from the opening tip.

Mohammed Alsuwailem (Saudi Arabia) The 6'9" center was a force in the paint, recording a double-double by halftime and finishing with 20 points, 16 rebounds and a +35 efficiency rating. It followed a perfect 7-of-7 shooting performance against Qatar in the previous game. "Big MO" won the battle in the paint but couldn't drag his team over the line.

Musab Tariq M Kadi (Saudi Arabia) The power forward added 19 points, part of four Saudi players in double figures. Kadi's scoring helped Saudi Arabia build their largest lead of the game.

Jihad Elkhatib (Lebanon) The 20-year-old small forward delivered the game's biggest basket — a go-ahead three-pointer with under two minutes to play. Elkhatib has made an immediate impact in his first senior national team appearances this window.

Lebanon's 18-of-18 free-throw shooting is historic: it is only the second perfect FT performance in World Cup Asian Qualifiers history, after Saudi Arabia's own 8-of-8 against the Philippines in November 2022. The 18 attempts are also the most by any team shooting 100 percent in a single qualifier game.

"Saudi national team are improving a lot," Lebanon captain Amir Saoud said. "It wasn't like this before. Usually we don't really feel their presence as much as we did today, especially at their home court."

Lebanon improved to 2-1 in the group, level on points with Qatar and Saudi Arabia at the top. "We fought hard," Abdul Jabbar said. "I felt like we had a very good chance to win the game... now we just have to focus and wait for the next game against Qatar."

Lebanon's next game is against India, while Saudi Arabia face Qatar. Both fixtures fall in the current window.

This was Saudi Arabia's best performance against Lebanon in decades — the closest margin since a 1999 Asia Cup win — and a sign of genuine progress under head coach Ali Alsanhani. But Lebanon's composure under pressure, led by a captain who refused to miss from the stripe, was the difference. If the Cedars can maintain this discipline without their two stars, they are a genuine threat to reach the 2027 World Cup.
