Rwanda's inability to contain Nigeria's transition game — a problem that also plagued them in their 83-67 loss to Tunisia on 3 July — proved terminal. Nigeria's guards pushed the pace at every opportunity, and Rwanda's defence, which had conceded 83 points per game in its first two outings, had no answer.

Morris Udeze was the standout player of the game. The forward, who scored 30 points in the first meeting between these sides, delivered another dominant performance. According to FIBA's game report, Udeze led all scorers and was the catalyst for Nigeria's offence throughout.

Nigeria's bench contributed heavily, with multiple players reaching double figures as coach Abdulrahman Mohammed rotated freely with the result secure. The team's 2-point shooting percentage (49.7% tournament average entering the game) was well above Rwanda's tournament average of 41%.

For Rwanda, Prince Muhizi and Dieudonné Furaha were the primary scoring threats, but neither found consistent rhythm against Nigeria's length and switching defence. Furaha, who had 12 points against Tunisia on 3 July, was limited in his effectiveness.

Nigeria's 106 points marked their highest total of the first round, surpassing the 75 they managed against Rwanda in November and the 78 they scored in an overtime loss to Tunisia. The 44-point margin is the widest of any game in the African Qualifiers Window 1.

The scoreline reflects a gulf in efficiency: Nigeria shot at a significantly higher percentage from inside the arc (49.7% tournament average vs Rwanda's 41%) and dominated the rebounding battle (46.6 rebounds per game average vs Rwanda's 39.2). Rwanda's 3-point shooting, which had been a modest 29.5% across the tournament, failed to provide the spacing needed to trouble Nigeria's defence.

The 62 points were Rwanda's lowest in the qualifying campaign, and their 0-3 record in Group C was the worst of any team in the group.

Nigeria finish Group C in third place with a 1-2 record (4 points) and advance to the second round of the African Qualifiers alongside Guinea (3-0, 6 points) and Tunisia (2-1, 5 points). The second round, which will determine Africa's representatives at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar, is scheduled to begin in February 2027.

Rwanda exit the qualifiers with an 0-3 record (3 points), having failed to win a game in the first round for the second consecutive qualifying cycle. Their tournament averages of 67 points per game and 39.2 rebounds per game were the lowest in Group C.
