Rutherglen Glencairn vs Clyde

Clyde got off to the worst possible start inside three minutes. A short pass out of defence was intercepted by Allan Woodhouse, who drove through on goal and saw his effort clip the inside of the post before bouncing over the line before goalkeeper Jay Hogarth could react.

The Glens doubled their lead in the 17th minute. A blocked clearance fell kindly to David Mitchell, and the forward made no mistake with a composed finish to make it 2-0.

Clyde briefly threatened when a trialist's free-kick crashed off the crossbar, but they were unable to build any sustained pressure. For Rutherglen Glencairn, it was a pre-season marker ahead of the 2026-27 West of Scotland League Premier Division campaign, which begins in August. Rutherglen Glencairn's sharp first-half performance was more than enough to see off a Clyde side that looked sluggish and error-prone in the opening 45 minutes. The gap between the West of Scotland Premier Division and Scottish League Two is not vast, and on this evidence the Glens can approach the new season with real confidence. Clyde will need far sharper defending and better finishing when competitive action begins in the Premier Sports Cup.
