Fenerbahçe vs Pogon Szczecin

Fenerbahçe needed only eight minutes to open the scoring. Fred slipped a through ball to Cengiz Ünder, who cut inside from the right and finished low past Valentin Cojocaru for 1-0.

Anthony Musaba doubled the lead on 23 minutes, collecting the ball inside the box and beating the Pogoń goalkeeper to make it 2-0. The scoreline stayed that way until half-time, Fenerbahçe having dominated possession and territory.

Manager İsmail Kartal rang the changes at the break, replacing five players including swapping Talisca for Marco Asensio and Bartuğ Elmaz for Sidiki Cherif. The impact was instant.

Asensio turned provider three minutes into the second half, threading a pass to Cherif who slotted home from close range for 3-0. Cherif struck again four minutes later — collecting a loose ball in the area and firing past Cojocaru to make it 4-0 in the 52nd minute.

Fenerbahçe made a further seven substitutions around the hour mark, while Pogoń also rang changes. The tempo dropped after Cherif's second goal, and the match petered out without further scoring. Jayden Oosterwolde received a yellow card in the 57th minute, the only booking of the contest.

Kartal's decision to introduce Cherif and Asensio at half-time changed the game entirely. Asensio, a Champions League final goalscorer for Real Madrid, provided the assist for Cherif's first goal within three minutes of the restart. Cherif's second — a well-taken finish four minutes later — effectively killed the contest before the hour mark, with Pogoń unable to respond.

Sidiki Cherif — The substitute's two goals in four second-half minutes (48', 52') transformed a comfortable lead into a rout. His movement and finishing were sharp, making a strong case for a starting role.

Cengiz Ünder — Opened the scoring with a trademark cut-inside finish in the 8th minute and caused problems on the right flank throughout his 58-minute shift before being replaced alongside most of the starting XI.

Marco Asensio — Came on at half-time and immediately provided the assist for Cherif's first goal. His vision and passing quality added a different dimension to Fenerbahçe's attack.

Fred — The Brazilian midfielder dictated the tempo from deep and supplied the assist for Ünder's opening goal with a clever through ball.

The 4-0 scoreline reflected Fenerbahçe's overwhelming superiority in a match where they led 2-0 at half-time and added two quickfire goals after the restart. The wholesale substitutions — Kartal used all 12 available changes — meant the game was effectively two separate contests. Fenerbahçe's first XI built the platform, and the second XI capitalised. Pogoń managed only a handful of attacking sequences and never seriously tested the Fenerbahçe defence.

This was Fenerbahçe's second pre-season friendly of their Austria training camp, following an earlier win. The Istanbul side face a crucial Champions League second qualifying round tie against Górnik Zabrze on 21 July 2026, and this performance will reinforce confidence. Pogoń Szczecin, meanwhile, continue their own preparations under Oscar Garcia. The Polish side have now won two and lost two of their four pre-season friendlies (3-0 vs BFC Dynamo, 2-1 vs Chrobry Głogów, 0-2 vs Zagłębie Lubin and this 0-4 defeat). They face Sturm Graz in another friendly on 15 July before opening their Ekstraklasa season at home against Legia Warszawa on 24 July.

A dominant display from Fenerbahçe, who showed both depth and quality across two entirely different XIs. Cherif's second-half impact will be the biggest positive for Kartal, while the Turks will be encouraged by how easily they dismantled a mid-table Ekstraklasa side. Pogoń were outclassed and will need sharper defending before their league campaign begins.
