Willem II vs FC Eindhoven

FC Eindhoven struck first from a set piece inside six minutes. Thijs Muller's corner found Mika de Jonge, who timed his run perfectly to nod past the goalkeeper — a composed finish against the club he once represented.

Willem II responded with immediate pressure. Julian van Esdonk forced a sharp save from Jort Borgmans, who turned the shot around the post. The equaliser arrived in the 29th minute when Jayden Slory collected the ball outside the box and unleashed a precise strike into the far corner, beyond Borgmans' reach.

Just when the half seemed destined for 1-1, FC Eindhoven struck again in stoppage time. Guus Beaumont drove forward on a rapid counter-attack and slipped De Jonge through on goal. The forward remained ice-cool, sliding the ball into the near corner to restore the lead and complete his brace before the break.

Willem II dominated the second half territorially but struggled to break down a resolute FC Eindhoven defence. With 20 minutes left, Lasse Abildgaard found himself clean through on goal but dragged his shot wide — a miss that looked costly. The pressure finally told in the 74th minute when a corner caused chaos in the box and Noéh de Bruijn stabbed home from close range to make it 2-2.

FC Eindhoven thought they had snatched a winner in stoppage time when Lennon Smulders fired in, but the goal was ruled out for an attacking foul, preserving the draw.

Mika de Jonge (FC Eindhoven) — Two clinical finishes against his former employers, the first from a corner and the second a composed one-on-one. Subbed off at half-time as part of planned rotation.

Jort Borgmans (FC Eindhoven) — Made several vital saves, including a sharp denial of Abildgaard in the first half and a late stop in the closing stages to keep the score level.

Jayden Slory (Willem II) — Produced the standout goal of the match: a well-struck effort from distance that gave Borgmans no chance.

The 2-2 scoreline reflected a game of two distinct halves. FC Eindhoven were the sharper side in the opening 45 minutes, converting two of their best chances from set pieces and transitions. Willem II grew into the contest after the break and were rewarded for sustained pressure with the equaliser from a corner — the same route FC Eindhoven had used to open the scoring. The disallowed goal for Smulders in added time was the tightest of margin calls.

Both sides are in the early stages of pre-season preparation. Willem II, who began their summer programme on 23 June, had lost 1-2 to Quick Boys on 4 July and will value the fightback against a fellow Eerste Divisie side. FC Eindhoven, who fielded a full XI of trialists and regulars, will take encouragement from their first-half display and the sharpness of De Jonge in front of goal.
