Sinan Karweina — The new signing needed only 13 minutes to open his account for SVWW. The 27-year-old forward, who joined from Swiss Super League side FC Luzern in late June, showed sharp movement and composure to convert an early chance. His goal was precisely the kind of contribution Scherning will hope for in the 3. Liga campaign ahead.

Ibrahim Ati Allah — The 19-year-old attacking midfielder (Morocco, €150k market value per Transfermarkt) came on at half-time and made the game safe with an 84th-minute finish. He is one of several young players pushing for first-team minutes in the new season.

The SVWW defensive unit — Whether it was the first-half backline of Neubert, Hübner, Fechner and Kalem or the second-half quartet of Neubert, Lewald, Janitzek and Memovic, the 3. Liga side kept a clean sheet against a J1 League opponent. That is a notable achievement given the chasm in league status between the two divisions.

SVWW recorded 66% ball possession (per Futbol24), a figure that reflects their control of the tempo rather than any artificial dominance. The 2-0 scoreline — predicted at 6.58% likelihood by pre-match data models (Sports Mole) — understates SVWW's superiority. The German side created the clearer chances across both halves, while Fagiano Okayama struggled to test either Stritzel or Brdar in goal.
