Both sides used the first half-hour to find rhythm in a typically low-tempo friendly start. Başakşehir, who had beaten RB Salzburg 2-1 just 24 hours earlier on 15 July — a game in which Turhan also scored — gradually asserted control through midfield. The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Turhan, an 18-year-old Swiss-born forward who joined Başakşehir from Grasshopper in September 2025, finished from close range after a ball played forward caught the Puskás defence square.

Turhan's 35th-minute opener was the decisive moment. Before that, Puskás had been disciplined and competitive, with Lukács testing the Başakşehir defence. Once behind, they were forced to push forward, and the concession of a penalty almost immediately — Kałuziński converting on 40 minutes — effectively ended the contest before half-time. A side of Başakşehir's quality was never likely to surrender a two-goal lead in a friendly setting.

Emir Tuğra Turhan (Başakşehir) — The 18-year-old forward opened the scoring with a composed close-range finish and scored for the second consecutive day (he also netted against Salzburg on 15 July). One to watch in Başakşehir's pre-season campaign.

Jakub Kałuziński (Başakşehir) — The Polish midfielder held his nerve from the penalty spot and offered a steady presence in central midfield. His second goal in as many pre-season appearances.

Puskás second-half response — Despite the deficit, Puskás showed more aggression after the break. Kevin Mondovics was played through by Lukács in the 49th minute but Başakşehir goalkeeper Deniz Dilmen saved. András Németh set up Palkó Dárdai for a shot that went over the bar in the 81st minute, and Zsolt Krupa launched a solo run down the right in the 87th minute only for Dilmen to save his angled effort.

Başakşehir's 2-0 half-time lead proved unassailable, with the second half goalless. Başakşehir continue their Austrian training camp in Geinberg with a second win in as many days. The Süper Lig side face further friendlies as they build towards the 2026-27 season. Puskás Akadémia, who finished mid-table in the Hungarian NB I last season under new manager Babó Levente, have more pre-season fixtures scheduled before the new domestic campaign begins. Puskás' next outing is the conclusion of their Geinberg training camp, which runs until 17 July.

A professional, efficient performance from Başakşehir, whose superior quality told inside a dominant first-half spell. Puskás Akadémia competed well in patches — particularly in the second half, when they created several chances — but lacked the cutting edge to trouble a well-organised Turkish defence. As Puskás' own match report acknowledged, the Hungarian side "deserved a draw based on their second-half performance."
