Farnham Town vs Wycombe

Farnham took the lead in the 13th minute through a well-worked move. Trae Cook-Appiah slid a pass out to Sanders on the left, who shifted the ball onto his right foot and drilled a clinical finish past Wycombe goalkeeper Jonny Pettit.

The hosts nearly doubled their lead on 22 minutes when Dean's effort was tipped behind by Pettit at his near post. Wycombe pulled one back in the 82nd minute when McKoy was played in on goal and produced a clinical finish past Shaw into the bottom-left corner. McKoy almost levelled four minutes later, but Shaw saved well. Farnham saw out the closing stages professionally.

Dean's goal in the 54th minute — just a minute after Wycombe had their first meaningful attack of the second half — effectively killed the contest. It came from sustained pressure, with Taylor's initial shot forcing a save and Dean reacting fastest to the rebound. Wycombe never truly threatened to recover from 2-0 down until McKoy's late consolation, and even then Farnham's response was calm.

Darryl Sanders (Farnham Town) — Opened the scoring with a composed finish in the 13th minute and was a constant threat from the left flank. Also created a headed chance for Kinnane from a corner in the second half.

Owen Dean (Farnham Town) — Doubled the lead with a powerful left-footed finish from close range in the 54th minute. Had earlier tested Pettit with a shot that was tipped behind.

Bobby-Joe Taylor (Farnham Town) — The architect of Farnham's second goal, his powerful shot forced the parry that fell to Dean. His set-piece delivery caused problems throughout, with two corners finding Kinnane for headed chances.

Jahrel McKoy (Wycombe) — The one bright spot for the visitors. Scored a clinical finish in the 82nd minute and nearly equalised four minutes later, only to be denied by Shaw.

Farnham's control of the first 60 minutes is reflected in the chances created. The hosts had multiple clear openings — Kinnane's two headers, Clifford's shot, Dean's effort saved — before Wycombe registered any meaningful attack. The visitors' goal in the 82nd minute came against the run of play, and McKoy's late chance aside, Farnham's defensive shape held firm. Johnson's assessment that Wycombe "didn't create anything of note throughout the first 60 minutes" is borne out by the flow of the game.

For Farnham Town — a club that plays in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South (Step 7 of the English pyramid) — beating a League One side is a significant scalp and a marker of their pre-season progress under manager Paul Johnson. The Town have now played three pre-season fixtures, with their next test away at League Two Rochdale on Saturday, 25 July (3pm kick-off).

Wycombe, preparing for the 2026/27 League One season, used the fixture to give game time to a mix of senior players and trialists. Johnson noted that several Wycombe players "might be seen in the league this year out on loan getting some valuable minutes."

A deserved win for Farnham, who were sharper, better organised and more dangerous in the final third for the majority of the game. The gap of seven divisions was invisible for long stretches. Wycombe will sharpen up as their pre-season continues, but for Farnham this was a statement performance — and the kind of result that builds genuine belief before a competitive season begins.
