FV Ravensburg vs FC 08 Homburg

Playing at the Kalzhofer Strasse ground in Oberstaufen, Homburg dominated the opening half-hour without finding the net. Tim Steinmetz's cross found Jacob Roden inside three minutes, but his close-range effort was saved. New signing Birkan Celik tested the Ravensburg goalkeeper from 18 metres in the 17th minute, but it remained goalless.

The breakthrough came in the 29th minute. Armend Qenaj's shot from a Steinmetz cross was saved, but the ball fell to Steinmetz on the edge of the box, and he curled it home to make it 1-0. Eight minutes before half-time, Roden doubled the lead — fighting off his marker inside the area to slot into the far corner from a tight angle, making it 2-0 at the break.

Homburg made four changes at half-time — Manu, Petermann, Kuhinja and Ehrhart replacing Heilig, Andermatt, Günther-Schmidt and Celik — and extended their lead within nine minutes of the restart. A cleared corner was recycled in midfield, Jan-Erik Eichhorn set up Roden, and the striker completed his brace for 3-0.

Ravensburg's response came in the 63rd minute. Luan Kukic drove into the Homburg box, rounded goalkeeper Gelt and slotted home from a tight angle to make it 3-1. The goal visibly lifted the Oberliga side, who immediately went close again with a shot that sailed just over the bar.

Homburg could not reassert control. They earned several corners but failed to convert them into chances. In the 78th minute, a Ravensburg corner broke down and they countered quickly, Marius Mahle scoring to make it 3-2. The hosts nearly completed a remarkable comeback when a long-range strike flew narrowly wide in the closing stages, but Homburg held on.

The 3-0 scoreline at 54 minutes told a tale of Homburg's first-hour dominance against an opponent two divisions below them. But Ravensburg's two goals in the final 27 minutes — and the close call for a third — revealed a Homburg defence that lost its shape after the flurry of second-half substitutions. Coach Roland Seitz acknowledged as much: "Through the many changes we lost our order and conceded another annoying goal."

Homburg's six changes across the second half (four at the break, two more later) disrupted their defensive cohesion, yet the positives — three well-worked goals, creative width from Steinmetz, and Roden's sharpness in front of goal — outweighed the late wobble for a team still in pre-season build-up.

For Homburg, this is a third straight friendly win in their 2026/27 summer preparations. The Regionalliga Südwest side are in the middle of their training camp in the Kleinwalsertal and face SSV Reutlingen on Saturday 25 July (17:30 kick-off in Sonthofen) before returning home. Ravensburg, an Oberliga Baden-Württemberg side, will take positives from their spirited second-half fightback against a team two tiers above them.

A pre-season friendly that told two stories: Homburg's fluid attacking play in the first hour, and their defensive fragility once changes were made. For a betting audience, the takeaway is that Homburg carry genuine goal threat — Roden and Steinmetz look sharp — but their backline is vulnerable to pace on the counter, especially when the team is reshuffled.
