GO Ahead Eagles vs OFI

The opening 45 minutes offered little in the way of clear chances. Go Ahead goalkeeper Kjetil Haug was called upon twice but faced only tame efforts, while at the other end Melle Meulensteen saw a long-range shot drift just wide. The sides went in level at 0-0.

The breakthrough came three minutes into the second half. Substitute Tomas Galvez — on at left-back for Dean James at the break — delivered a pinpoint free kick to the far post, where captain Joris Kramer rose to head home and make it 1-0 in the 48th minute.

Five minutes later the lead was doubled. Victor Edvardsen was released in behind the OFI defence and finished calmly past the goalkeeper for 2-0 in the 53rd minute.

Go Ahead kept pushing. Stefán Sigurdarson and Kramer both went close to a third before Søren Tengstedt made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute, turning in a cross from Mathis Suray at the near post.

The scoring was completed in the 89th minute. Meulensteen, who had been a persistent threat from midfield, struck a shot from distance that took a deflection and looped into the net for 4-0.

The match was a tame affair until Galvez's introduction at half-time. His dead-ball delivery for the opening goal unlocked a defence that had held firm for 47 minutes, and once the first goal went in, OFI — who had changed their entire XI at the break — struggled to regroup. The 1-0 shifted the momentum decisively, and the second goal followed within five minutes.

Joris Kramer (Go Ahead Eagles): The captain opened the scoring with a well-timed header and was a commanding presence at the back throughout his 70 minutes on the pitch.

Tomas Galvez (Go Ahead Eagles): The left-back played only 20 minutes before being substituted himself, but his free-kick assist for the opening goal was the single most decisive moment of the match.

Melle Meulensteen (Go Ahead Eagles): Industrious in midfield, he was unlucky not to score in the first half and eventually got his reward with a deflected strike in the 89th minute.

Victor Edvardsen (Go Ahead Eagles): Took his goal with composure and stretched the OFI back line with his movement in behind.

The 4-0 scoreline tells a story of second-half dominance, but the first half was more balanced. OFI had two of their better chances before the break, with Iseka heading wide from an Apostolakis cross and Fountas forcing a save from Haug. The floodgates opened after Kramer's 48th-minute header, with three of the four goals arriving in the space of 25 minutes. Go Ahead's ability to score from a set piece (the opener), a through ball (Edvardsen's finish), a wide cross (Tengstedt's tap-in) and a long-range strike (Meulensteen) suggests a varied attacking threat with the new season now two weeks away.

This was Go Ahead Eagles' final home friendly of their pre-season programme ahead of the Eredivisie campaign, which begins the weekend of 7–9 August 2026. The win follows a 3-0 victory over Vitesse in a behind-closed-doors friendly on 24 July and a 1-0 loss to Lommel SK earlier in pre-season. The Dutch side conclude their preparations with a trip to Luton Town on 2 August.

For OFI, this was their first pre-season test in the Netherlands. The Greek side changed their entire XI at half-time as head coach Christos Skotidis experimented with personnel. They remain in pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 Super League Greece campaign.

A routine pre-season victory that answered few questions about Go Ahead Eagles' first-half performance but confirmed their ability to overwhelm tiring opposition after the break. The quality of Galvez's delivery and Kramer's finishing were the clear takeaways. OFI's heavy rotation makes it difficult to draw firm conclusions about their readiness.
