Mitrovica won that final 2-0, meaning Ludogorets fell at the final hurdle of the first qualifying round. The winner of the mini-tournament — Mitrovica — advanced to the second qualifying round, where they were drawn against Norwegian champions Brann.

For KÍ Klaksvík, the defeat ended their European campaign at the first stage. The Faroese representatives entered the qualifying rounds as domestic champions but were unable to progress past the semi-final.

Ludogorets made a statement on their European debut — clinical, organised and composed. The 3-0 scoreline was a fair reflection of the gap between the Bulgarian champions and their Faroese opponents. But the subsequent 2-0 defeat to Mitrovica three days later showed that the step up to the final of the first qualifying round remains a significant one. For KÍ, the gulf in quality at this level was evident, but the experience will be valuable for future campaigns.
