Wisla Plock vs Pogoń Grod. Mazowiecki

After the first quarter-hour it was Wisła Płock who looked sharper. Dani Pacheco's 4th-minute corner found Marin Karamarko, whose header went wide. Two minutes later Pacheco put Deni Jurić through one-on-one, but the striker shot wide. The warning was not heeded.

How it unfolded

The breakthrough came in the 10th minute. Pacheco again carved open the Pogoń defence, and this time Jurić made no mistake, slotting home to give the Ekstraklasa side a 1-0 lead. Gleb Kuchko almost doubled the advantage immediately but was blocked twice in quick succession.

Pogoń grew into the half. Dawid Barnowski tested goalkeeper Rafał Leszczyński in the 10th minute, Jakub Jędrasik fired from distance on 30 minutes, and Jakub Lis went close in the 36th. Karamarko headed over from another corner in between, and Wisła took their slender lead into the break.

Both sides changed their entire XIs at half-time — standard summer friendly practice — and the second half followed a different rhythm. Marcin Flis headed a 51st-minute corner straight at the Pogoń goalkeeper. Three minutes later, Said Hamulić broke free down the flank and pulled the ball back for a Pogoń trialist, who turned it into his own net under pressure. 2-0.

The turning point

The own goal should have put the game to bed, but Wisła gifted Pogoń a way back. Przemysław Misiak's clumsy challenge in the box gave referee no choice but to point to the spot. Grzegorz Gulczyński stepped up and converted the penalty in the 62nd minute — 2-1 — and the I liga side had momentum.

Hamulić attempted an overhead kick from a right-wing cross in the 64th minute but missed by some distance. Hubert Adamczyk shot well over from the edge of the box in the 73rd. Fabian Hiszpański's late free-kick forced a sharp save from the Pogoń goalkeeper, but Wisła held on.

Key performers

Deni Jurić — scored the opener after earlier missing a one-on-one; his movement in behind the Pogoń backline was the main threat in the first half. Dani Pacheco — creator-in-chief, providing the assist for Jurić's goal and the corner that led to Karamarko's early chance. Said Hamulić — introduced at half-time, his direct running forced the decisive own goal and he came close with an audacious bicycle kick.

Pre-season friendlies rarely produce full-match xG data from public sources, but the pattern is clear from the club's own match report: Wisła dominated the first 15 minutes (four chances created), then allowed Pogoń back into it before half-time. The second half was more open — three goals in 12 minutes from the 51st minute onward — but fewer clear-cut opportunities were created after the penalty. Wisła's use of two entirely different XIs (a complete swap at half-time) makes aggregated stats largely meaningless; what matters is that both the first-half and second-half line-ups created and conceded chances.

Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki, preparing for a second consecutive season in I liga, also split their squad into two groups and used several trialists.

Wisła's next friendly is against Polonia Warsaw on 4 July 2026 at the ORLEN Stadion training pitch. Pogoń's pre-season schedule has not been published at the time of writing.

Verdict

A routine pre-season opener for Wisła Płock — positive moments from Jurić, Pacheco and Hamulić, but defensive lapses (the penalty concession) to clean up before the real season starts. The scoreline and performance were exactly what a first friendly should offer: minutes in legs, evidence of tactical patterns, and identifiable areas to sharpen.
