Mezokovesd-zsory vs FK Košice

Dimun's late winner came at the end of a contest where both sides showed predictable pre-season rust. Mezőkövesd had been the sharper side for the first 15 minutes of the second half after taking the lead, but Košice's substitutions — including the introduction of Dimun and new signings Aleksa Maraš and Maxim Mateáš — gave them fresh legs and a sharper edge in the final third.

Tomáš Husarčík — Making his unofficial debut for Košice after his summer move, the midfielder scored the equaliser just ten minutes after coming on, immediately justifying his signing.

Z. Varjas — Scored Mezőkövesd's first-half equaliser with a well-taken strike, one of the brighter performers for the Hungarian side who otherwise struggled to convert possession into sustained pressure.

The five goals came from an expected open, transitional friendly where both coaches prioritised minutes over structure. Košice's habit of conceding early after halftime (the penalty in the 48th minute) will be a concern for coach Peter Černák, but their ability to respond within seven minutes showed encouraging resilience. Mezőkövesd had the better of possession for stretches but lacked the cutting edge to hold a lead — their last 21 competitive matches have all featured under 3.5 total goals, a pattern that held even in this friendly until Dimun's late strike broke it.

This was the first pre-season friendly for both sides. Košice, who finished 7th in the 2025-26 Niké Liga and reached the Slovnaft Cup final (losing 3-1 to Žilina on 1 May), continue their summer schedule with further friendlies in July. Mezőkövesd, who placed 5th in Hungary's NB II last season, also have a full slate of pre-season fixtures ahead of their 2026-27 campaign.

Košice head coach Peter Černák was still without the injured trio of Matej Jakúbek, Edin Julardžija and Juraj Teplan. The club have undergone significant turnover this summer — goalkeepers Dávid Šípoš (to Žilina) and loanees Vladimir Perišič and Mátyás Kovács (who moved to Belgium) have departed, while arrivals include Bojan Damjanovič, Aleksa Maraš, Aleksandar Kahvič, Husarčík and Mateáš.

A typically loose and open pre-season friendly, decided by the depth of Košice's bench. The Slovak side showed superior fitness and the ability to score three times away from home, even if the defending on both sides will need sharpening before competitive football resumes. Dimun's late intervention gave the result a flattering edge, but Černák will take more from the minutes logged by his new signings than the scoreline itself.
