Paks vs Dundee

Bland's goal early in the second half proved decisive. Had Paks reached the hour mark still trailing by only a single goal, the Hungarian side — who will play in the UEFA Conference League later this month — may have grown into the contest. Instead, the 0-2 strike forced Paks to chase the game, and although Horváth responded within six minutes, Dundee's defensive shape held through the closing stages.

Ash Hay — The Dundee attacker opened the scoring with a well-taken finish on the stroke of half-time, giving his side a crucial lead going into the break. The Courier reported that Hay "fired Dundee in front against Paksi FC."

Ryan Bland — His second-half goal proved to be the match-winner, extending Dundee's lead to 2-0 at a vital moment and ultimately making the difference on the scoreboard.

Krisztián Horváth — The Paks midfielder was the home side's standout, pulling one back and threatening a late equaliser.

Player of the Match: Ash Hay

The match was a standard pre-season friendly with rolling substitutions typical of this phase of the calendar. Both sides used the fixture to build match sharpness rather than chase statistical dominance. Dundee's ability to score either side of half-time — in the 45th and 61st minutes — created a buffer that Paks could only partially reduce.

For Dundee, this was the second friendly of their pre-season training camp in Hungary (28 June – 5 July). They had previously defeated Dorogi and were scheduled to face Maccabi Haifa on 4 July before returning to Scotland. Pressley's side open their Scottish Premiership campaign away to Celtic on 3 August 2026.

For Paks, this was part of their build-up to UEFA Conference League qualifying later in July 2026. The Hungarian side will have taken positives from their second-half response but will want to tighten up defensively before competitive action begins.

A productive workout for Dundee in the Telki sunshine. The goals from Hay and Bland provided the attacking highlights, while the team's ability to absorb late pressure after Horváth's reply will encourage Pressley. Pre-season results carry limited weight, but two wins from two is a solid start to the calendar.
