Slask Wroclaw vs Chrobry Głogów

Simundza made 10 substitutions at the break, sending out an entirely different outfield eleven for the second period. Karol Niemczycki replaced Szromnik in goal, while a new front three of Damian Warchoł, Luka Marjanac and Piotr Samiec-Talar took the field.

The reshuffle did not disrupt Slask’s rhythm. Chrobry pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Szarabura, who finished from close range to halve the deficit. But Slask restored their three-goal cushion almost immediately. Warchoł, lively throughout the second half, was brought down in the box for a penalty, and Samiec-Talar converted from the spot in the 88th minute to make it 4-1.

The 37th-minute strike that made it 2-0 was the defining moment of the match. Dembele’s ability to hold off two defenders and release Banaszak with a perfectly weighted pass showcased the chemistry developing between Slask’s two new forwards. The goal gave Slask breathing room before half-time and effectively killed any hope of a Chrobry fightback.

Two goals — one from the penalty spot, one from open play — in the first half earned Banaszak the plaudits. The 29-year-old was a constant menace to the Chrobry defence, linking play effectively with Dembele and showing the sharpness that made him the I liga’s most prolific forward last term.

Honourable mentions: Damian Warchoł scored one and won the penalty for the fourth; Michal Mokrzycki provided the assist for Warchoł’s header; and Karol Niemczycki made several solid saves in the second half to keep Chrobry at bay.

This was Slask’s second pre-season friendly of the summer. The 4-1 scoreline does not flatter them — they created the clearer chances in both halves, even after making 10 substitutions. Chrobry, a I liga side, competed well in spells but lacked the cutting edge to trouble Slask’s second-string defence significantly. The penalty count (two awarded to Slask, none to Chrobry) reflects the home side’s greater penetration into the final third.

Slask Wroclaw continue their pre-season preparations against Lechia Zielona Góra in their next friendly. With the new Ekstraklasa season approaching, Simundza will be encouraged by the goalscoring form of Banaszak and the impact of Warchoł off the bench. The competition for starting places up front appears healthy, with Dembele and Marjanac also pushing for minutes.
