This was the first of six scheduled pre-season friendlies for FSV Frankfurt under Kleinhenz, who took charge in April 2026 after Tim Görner's departure. The 34-year-old previously coached Aubstadt from 2020 to 2023 before moving to 1. FC Schweinfurt, adding a personal subplot to the fixture. FSV Frankfurt continue their preparation on 7 July at TuS Dietkirchen, followed by fixtures against Rot-Weiß Walldorf (12 July), 1. FK Příbram in the Czech Republic (18 July), and 1. FC Köln II (25 July). Their Regionalliga Südwest season begins on the weekend of 8-9 August.

For Aubstadt, the 5-0 defeat is the first of five pre-season tests. They face fellow Regionalliga Bayern opposition in their build-up, with their first competitive fixture of the season coming in the Toto-Pokal on 18 July.

A comprehensive workout for both sides that told pre-season observers more about fitness levels than league potential. FSV Frankfurt's second-half intensity overwhelmed an Aubstadt side clearly earlier in their preparation cycle. Kleinhenz's tenure starts with the ideal result, but the real tests begin in August.
