Zaglebie Lubin vs Baník Ostrava

The first half was a tight affair, with few clear chances for either side. Baník Ostrava came closest in the 28th minute when the referee awarded a penalty. Alomerović's penalty save in the 28th minute kept Zagłębie in the match at a crucial stage, but Baník Ostrava's triple half-time substitution proved more decisive. The introduction of Bewene, Frýdl and Pira gave the Czech side fresh legs in midfield and attack, and they took control of the second half within seven minutes of the restart. Chaluš's opener from open play was the clinical finish Zagłębie could not muster.

Zlatan Alomerović (Zagłębie Lubin) — The veteran goalkeeper kept his side in the game with a well-read penalty save from Jurečka. Could do little about either goal, both of which came from close range.

Matěj Chaluš (Baník Ostrava) — The centre-back scored the opener in the 52nd minute, pushing forward from his defensive position to break the deadlock. Also solid at the back alongside Jiří Míček.

David Buchta (Baník Ostrava) — Sealed the win with a composed finish in the 64th minute. Caused problems down the right flank throughout the second half.

Player of the match: Matěj Chaluš — his goal and defensive solidity were decisive.

Baník Ostrava's second-half dominance was reflected in the scoring timeline: both goals arrived after the 50th minute, following the manager's triple substitution. Zagłębie Lubin, who had scored six goals across their three previous friendlies (3-0 vs Miedź Legnica, 3-2 vs Podbrezová, 0-0 vs Pogoń Szczecin), failed to register a shot on target in the second half. The penalty miss for Jurečka and the subsequent save by Alomerović were the defining moments of a first half that otherwise produced little attacking output from either side.

This was Zagłębie Lubin's fourth and final pre-season friendly during their training camp in Opalenica. Leszek Ojrzyński's side ended their summer programme with three wins and one defeat (W3 D0 L1), with the 0-0 draw against Pogoń Szczecin on 4 July their only clean sheet. Baník Ostrava, who had lost 1-0 to Piast Gliwice on 4 July, bounced back to secure their first win of pre-season under Skuhravý.

Zagłębie Lubin will begin their 2026/27 Ekstraklasa campaign later this month. Baník Ostrava continue their preparations for the Czech First League season.

A deserved win for Baník Ostrava, who were sharper in both boxes after the interval. Zagłębie Lubin will take positives from Alomerović's penalty save and a solid defensive display before the break, but the lack of attacking threat in the second half will be a concern for Ojrzyński. Pre-season friendly context applies, but the scoreline accurately reflected the balance of play.
