The match, played on the fifth day of Regensburg's training camp in Oberhaching, began with the 3. Liga side asserting early control. David Philipp, Nassim Boujellab, Marco Wörner and John Posselt all passed up presentable chances inside the opening 20 minutes (SSV Jahn Regensburg report).

Unterhaching, supervised by U17 coach Janek Frensch, had the first clear opening of the game. Sascha Hildmann made ten changes at the break, keeping only John Posselt on the pitch, but the fresh legs did not disrupt Regensburg's rhythm. The second-half XI — featuring Felix Schmitt in goal and a entirely new outfield unit — continued where the first half left off.

Lucas Hermes put the result beyond doubt in the 62nd minute. A slick passing combination carved through Unterhaching's defence and Hermes finished first-time into the net from close range. The goal arrived shortly after Maurice Dehler had replaced Avdija in the Unterhaching goal, and the young keeper could do little about the finish.

Adrian Fein — The midfielder converted his penalty with composure and anchored the first-half midfield alongside Niklas Majetschak. Fein's distribution kept Regensburg on the front foot during the opening 25 minutes when the game was won.

Lucas Hermes — Introduced at half-time, Hermes scored the decisive second goal with a crisp finish and caused problems with his movement off the left side of the attack.

Moritz Müller — Unterhaching's most dangerous outlet. The winger hit the post from range and consistently threatened in transition, though his final ball was sometimes lacking.

Hannes Hermann — The Regensburg goalkeeper made a sharp early save to deny Cornelius Pfeiffer and kept his clean sheet intact across the first 45 minutes.

Regensburg's 2-0 win reflected a game of two distinct phases. The first 25 minutes saw the 3. Liga side create multiple clear chances — Philipp, Boujellab, Wörner and Posselt all had openings — before the momentum flattened after the first water break. Unterhaching grew into the contest and hit the post through Müller, but their xG accumulation was limited to that one high-quality chance plus a few speculative efforts from distance.

The second half was more one-sided. Regensburg's completely reshuffled XI maintained territorial control and Hermes' goal arrived from a well-worked team move. Unterhaching's Maurice Dehler made a late save to prevent a third, but the hosts struggled to generate clear-cut chances against Regensburg's second-string defence.

For Regensburg, this was their second pre-season victory following a 4-2 win over SV Ried on 3 July. Hildmann's side continue their build-up to the 2026-27 3. Liga season, which begins away at Viktoria Köln. Their next friendly is at home against DJK Vilzing on 15 July (17:00) at the Kaulbachweg.

Unterhaching, preparing for the Regionalliga Bayern season, will take encouragement from spells of the performance — particularly after the water break in the first half — but the 0-2 defeat highlighted the gulf in class against a side two divisions above them.
