Gripshi's 55th-minute penalty broke Krylia's resistance after a goalless first period. The opening goal came from a side that had managed only two goals in three previous friendlies combined. Rubin's 2-0 win ended a run of three pre-season matches without a victory (D1 L2, since 26 June). The clean sheet was their first of the summer, after conceding in each of their previous three friendlies (1-1 vs KAMAZ, 1-2 vs Orenburg, 0-0 vs Spartak, all since 26 June). The two goals scored in this match matched Rubin's total output from their three prior friendlies combined. The 4x30-minute format meant both teams fielded essentially two different XIs, limiting statistical continuity across the 120 minutes.

This was Rubin's first win of the summer training camp in four matches, building momentum ahead of their final pre-season fixture against Lokomotiv Moscow on 18 July. Rubin open their 2026/27 RPL campaign at home to Krasnodar on 26 July — a demanding opener against a side that finished in the top half last season. Krylia Sovetov, who finished 11th in RPL 2025/26 with 32 points, continued their pre-season programme with a second consecutive defeat after losing 3-2 to Spartak Moscow on 4 July.

A functional pre-season win for Rubin, built on a penalty and a quick second goal rather than flowing attacking play. Artiga's side finally showed the clinical edge that had been missing in their first three friendlies, but the small sample of goals (two in four games) remains a concern ahead of the Krasnodar opener. Krylia showed defensive organisation for 55 minutes but wilted once the first goal went in.
