Truro City vs Exeter City

Exeter City, playing their first public pre-season fixture under Matt Taylor, fielded a starting XI featuring new signings Gwion Edwards and Josh Gordon. The first half was a cagey affair in sweltering Cornwall heat, with both sides cancelling each other out.

Exeter City, beaten in their first pre-season outing, travel to Weston-super-Mare on 25 July (3pm kick-off) for their second friendly of the summer. Matt Taylor will have taken useful minutes from a split-squad approach, with 22 players seeing game time.

A competitive if not spectacular pre-season opener. Truro took their one real chance with a well-struck penalty and defended resolutely, while Exeter's rotated line-up showed flashes but lacked the cutting edge to break down a compact National League South side. Pre-season results are secondary to fitness, but the Tinners will take genuine confidence from this scalp.
