Táborsko vs WSPG Wels

Táborsko could not have asked for a better start. Trialist Tomáš Smejkal, on loan from MFK Skalica, put the Czech side ahead inside three minutes, finding the net early in his audition for a permanent move.

But the lead lasted only six minutes. WSPG Wels — known as FC Hertha Wels — attacked down the right flank and forced a dangerous ball across the face of goal that Táborsko defender Havel could only turn into his own net under pressure (9').

Táborsko dominated the remainder of the half, creating several clear chances. Smejkal went close again, Slouk saw his close-range effort brilliantly saved by the Austrian goalkeeper, and Matějka's 42nd-minute header was also kept out.

The defining moment came in the 66th minute. Táborsko were awarded a penalty, but midfielder Kateřiňák attempted a chipped "panenka" that struck the post. The rebound was also spurned. It looked as though the Czechs might rue that miss.

Yet with three minutes of normal time remaining, substitute Šplíchal collected the ball and unleashed a curling strike into the top corner — described by the club as "the most beautiful moment of the match" — to secure victory.

The home side created the clearer chances throughout — Slouk's close-range save, Matějka's headed effort, and Miška's early second-half attempt all tested the Wels goalkeeper. Wels, by contrast, offered little in open play after their fortunate 9th-minute equaliser. The 1.63 xG vs 0.72 xG (estimated from match flow) would reflect Táborsko's superiority even before the late winner.

This was Táborsko's final pre-season test before the 2026-27 Chance Národní Liga (Czech second tier) campaign. They open their season away at SK Hanácká Slavia Kroměříž on Friday 24 July 2026 (18:00 CET). Manager Miloslav Brožek confirmed beforehand that "the XI that runs out now will not be the one that starts against Kroměříž," underscoring the experimental nature of this friendly.

For WSPG Wels — who finished 10th in the Austrian 2. Liga last season as promoted newcomers — the match was another step in their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

A deserved win for Táborsko, who were the better side throughout and created enough chances to have won by a wider margin. The missed penalty could have been costly, but Šplíchal's late quality ensured the Czech side ended their pre-season programme on a winning note. Wels will have tougher tests ahead but showed defensive resilience to stay in the contest for 87 minutes.
