Lommel United vs GO Ahead Eagles

Lommel controlled the opening exchanges at the club's training complex. Talvitie delivered an early dangerous cross that Ralf Seuntjens could not reach, and the home side continued to press. Sverre Nypan — the Norwegian talent recently loaned from Manchester City — combined well with Talvitie but saw his shot pushed around the post by Go Ahead goalkeeper Nando Verdoni.

The breakthrough arrived in the 40th minute. Talvitie picked the ball up in midfield, drove towards goal and curled a precise finish beyond Verdoni for a deserved 1-0 lead at the end of the first 30-minute block.

Lommel remained the sharper side after the interval. Nypan teed up captain Tom Schoofs, whose shot was saved, while at the other end Pieklak preserved the lead with a strong save from a long-range Go Ahead effort.

Lommel doubled their advantage in the 85th minute when Zalan Vancsa recovered possession, fed Schoofs, and the ball arrived at the feet of Jenthe Reumers on the edge of the box. The young striker unleashed a powerful strike that flew into the net to make it 2-0.

Go Ahead Eagles reduced the deficit in the 115th minute — the final period — when Stefan Sigurdarson scrambled home from close range. But Lommel held on to secure the win.

The 4×30-minute format makes direct statistical comparison tricky, but Lommel's dominance in the first two periods (60 minutes) was clear. Go Ahead improved after a complete XI change at half-time, with Sigurdarson's introduction adding a focal point. The red card shown to a Go Ahead defender in the 97th minute for a professional foul on Lommel substitute Singh further disrupted the Dutch side's momentum.

Lommel SK now head to Burgh-Haamstede in the Netherlands for a summer training camp (20-24 July), which concludes with a friendly against ADO Den Haag on 24 July. The Belgian side are preparing for their return to the Jupiler Pro League after 23 years — a landmark season ahead.

Go Ahead Eagles, meanwhile, closed their own training camp in Belgium with back-to-back friendly defeats, having also lost to Apollon Limassol on 11 July. Head coach Joseph Oosting will be looking for defensive improvements before the Eredivisie season gets underway.

A deserved win for Lommel, who were sharper in possession and more incisive in the final third. The Belgian side's preparation looks on track ahead of their historic top-flight return. Go Ahead have work to do defensively but showed character in the final period to avoid a heavier defeat.
