Zaglebie Sosnowiec vs Podhale Nowy Targ

Podhale struck first in the 20th minute. Arkadiusz Nowak found the net to give the visitors a lead they carried into the interval, with Zagłębie unable to fashion an equaliser before the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Kacper Talar doubled Podhale's advantage in the 67th minute, scoring what proved to be the game's decisive goal. Zagłębie pulled one back four minutes later — Iwo Kupidura scored in the 71st minute to give the home side brief hope of a comeback.

But Podhale extinguished any revival swiftly. Marcinho scored twice in quick succession, first in the 80th minute and again in the 84th, to round off a comprehensive victory.

Talar's goal in the 67th minute was the moment the game slipped away from Zagłębie. Having held firm for much of the second half after trailing by just one, the concession of a second goal forced Zagłębie to push forward — which created the space Marcinho exploited twice in the closing stages. The scoreline moved from 2-0 to 2-1 within four minutes, but the third goal, just nine minutes after Talar's strike, killed the contest.

Marcinho (Podhale Nowy Targ) — Player of the Match. The Brazilian scored twice in the space of four minutes (80', 84'), turning a manageable 2-1 scoreline into a 4-1 rout. His movement and finishing punished Zagłębie's high line as they chased the game.

Arkadiusz Nowak (Podhale Nowy Targ) — Set the tone with the opening goal in the 20th minute, giving Podhale a platform to control the first half.

Kacper Talar (Podhale Nowy Targ) — Scored the crucial second goal that forced Zagłębie to take risks, opening the door for the late flurry.

Iwo Kupidura (Zagłębie Sosnowiec) — The lone bright spot for the home side, scoring a well-taken consolation in the 71st minute. His goal was Zagłębie's only shot on target of note.

The 4-1 scoreline paints a clear picture of Podhale's superiority, but the timing of the goals tells the fuller story. Zagłębie kept the deficit to a single goal at half-time (0-1), suggesting a disciplined defensive structure in the opening 45 minutes. However, Podhale's second goal early in the second half unravelled that shape. The home side's response — a goal within four minutes of going 2-0 down — shows they have the character to react, but the defensive gaps that followed (two goals conceded in the 80th and 84th minutes) will concern the coaching staff.

As a pre-season friendly, fitness levels and experimental lineups factor into the result. But the manner of the late collapse, after conceding three goals in a 17-minute second-half spell, is a clear area for improvement ahead of the Betclic 3. Liga season.

This was Zagłębie Sosnowiec's fifth of eight scheduled pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2026/27 Betclic 3. Liga campaign, according to the club's summer preparation plan published on 9 June 2026. The team has been training at a camp in Wodzisław Śląski. The league season is set to begin on the weekend of 1–2 August 2026.

Podhale Nowy Targ, who compete one tier above Zagłębie in Betclic 2. Liga, will take confidence from a dominant performance against lower-league opposition. For Zagłębie, the result extends a mixed pre-season run — they have one win, one draw and one loss in their previous three friendlies in World Club Friendlies 4 (since 15 July 2026).

Zagłębie's next friendly is scheduled as part of their eight-match pre-season programme, with the club yet to announce the full fixture list at the time of writing. Podhale continue their own preparations for the 2. Liga season.

A comprehensive pre-season win for Podhale, who were clinical in the second half and showed their quality advantage. For Zagłębie, Kupidura's consolation was a positive individual moment, but the defensive fragility that conceded three times in the final 23 minutes needs urgent attention before the 3. Liga season starts in two weeks.
