Tychy 71 vs Považská Bystrica

The hosts struck first. Józef Chorosiński opened the scoring in the ninth minute, capitalising on early pressure to put GKS Tychy ahead. The Polish side, preparing for life in Betclic 2. Liga following relegation last season, looked sharp in the opening exchanges.

Považská Bystrica responded through Hungarian midfielder Péter Kotroczó, who levelled in the 24th minute. The Slovak visitors — 12th in the II. liga last season — grew into the contest and went into the break level at 1-1.

GKS Tychy regained the lead after the interval. Mateusz Koniuszy found the net in the 61st minute with a composed finish, restoring the home side's advantage. But Kotroczó struck again nine minutes from time, completing his double in the 81st minute to seal a 2-2 draw.

The match was played at the Kompleks Zespołu Boisk Piłkarskich im. Alfreda Potrawy in Tychy, with kick-off at 15:00 local time. It was the fourth of five pre-season friendlies scheduled by GKS Tychy for the summer of 2026.

Kotroczó's second goal in the 81st minute denied GKS Tychy a winning finish. Having led twice — through Chorosiński's early opener and Koniuszy's second-half strike — the Poles looked set to close out a narrow victory. However, the Hungarian midfielder's late intervention ensured the Slovaks left Tychy with something to show for their efforts.

Péter Kotroczó (MŠK Považská Bystrica) — The Hungarian midfielder was the standout player, scoring both of his side's goals. His first-half equaliser settled Slovak nerves, and his late equaliser demonstrated composure under pressure in the 81st minute.

Józef Chorosiński (GKS Tychy) — Opened the scoring in the 9th minute and was a persistent threat in the final third. He was substituted after the hour mark.

Mateusz Koniuszy (GKS Tychy) — Restored the home side's lead in the 61st minute with a well-taken goal, continuing his pre-season form.

Natan Toporek (GKS Tychy) — The youth-team graduate from the junior squad featured for the senior side, gaining valuable minutes in pre-season action.

The 2-2 scoreline reflects an evenly contested friendly. GKS Tychy, relegated from the Polish I liga last season, are still rebuilding under manager René Poms, while Považská Bystrica — a mid-table side in the Slovak second tier — used the match to test themselves against a higher-level opponent. The four-goal tally suggests both defences remain works in progress. Považská Bystrica made extensive use of their squad, with 11 substitutions across the match, including a wholesale change of outfield players at half-time.

This was GKS Tychy's fourth pre-season fixture of the summer, following earlier friendlies against Odra Opole (4 July), Sparta Katowice (8 July), and Sigma Ołomuniec B (11 July). A fifth was scheduled for later the same day against FK Trzyniec. The club has been in pre-season training since 19 June and held a week-long camp in Busko-Zdrój. The Betclic 2. Liga season is set to begin in late July or early August.

For MŠK Považská Bystrica, the result is a credible away draw against a Polish side playing one division higher in their domestic pyramid. The Slovaks, who finished 12th in the 2025/26 Slovak II. liga, fielded a heavily rotated squad with several players getting 45 minutes as part of their own pre-season preparations.

A typical pre-season friendly that delivered exactly what would be expected: goals, rotation, and a draw that neither side will read too much into. Kotroczó's double was the individual highlight, while GKS Tychy's ability to score twice and lead twice offers encouragement ahead of their league campaign. The defending on both sides, however, will need tightening before competitive action resumes.
