Lugo vs Celta de Vigo II

'Chiqui', easily Lugo's most dangerous player after the interval, was the architect of the equaliser. The winger beat two defenders inside the box in the 74th minute and was brought down for a clear penalty. Ognjen Teofilovic stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot to make it 1-1.

Lugo pushed for a winner. Pere Haro saw a double save keep his effort out, and 'Chiqui' could not finish a well-worked transition in the closing stages, but the hosts had to settle for a draw.

• Álvaro Marín (Celta de Vigo II) — Scored an excellent 12th-minute opener with a powerful strike from the edge of the area, and was a constant threat in the first half.
• Manu Buide (Lugo) — Won two headers from set-pieces inside the first seven minutes of the second half, signalling Lugo's improved intensity after the break.

Player of the Match: Óscar 'Chiqui' (Lugo)

Celta Fortuna's dominance in the first half reflected their head start in pre-season preparations — this was their second friendly compared to Lugo's first. The visitors' youthful energy and superior physical condition told in the opening 45 minutes. Lugo's 0.80 xG (estimated) to Celta's 0.70 (estimated) in the second half alone tells the story of a game that flipped after the break: seven half-time substitutions changed the shape, tempo and threat level entirely.

This was the first pre-season test for Borja Fernández's Lugo after just eight days of training. The Primera Federación side showed a Jekyll-and-Hyde performance — outplayed in the first half, transformed in the second after wholesale changes. Celta Fortuna, preparing for their historic first season in LaLiga Hypermotion, continued their unbeaten start to pre-season (one win, one draw after two friendlies).

Lugo's next friendly is a Galician derby against RC Deportivo at the Trofeo Concello de Vilalba on 29 July. Celta Fortuna face SCU Torreense on 29 July at 19:00 local time.
