Salvemini's second goal in the 35th minute effectively killed the contest. Ostia Mare's best chance came from a set-piece (Brosco's header against the post), which is a recurring route to goal for Serie D sides against higher-division opposition. The second half saw the game fragment after Floro Flores made a 10-man substitution in the 70th minute, which explains the lack of further goals despite chances for Siatounis and Logan.

Benevento have won both of their pre-season friendlies in Cascia by identical 2-0 scorelines, first against Roma Primavera on 25 July and now against Ostia Mare. The squad is building fitness and tactical understanding under Floro Flores, who has used 22 different players across the two tests. New signing Dalle Mura made his debut in the second half.

Ostia Mare, newly promoted to Serie C under manager David D'Antoni, are in the early stages of their own pre-season preparation and face a step up in quality when the league campaign begins.
