Marino vs Tenerife

Tenerife took control inside the opening 10 minutes. Nacho Gil pressed Marino goalkeeper Samuel Arbelo, forcing a defensive error that allowed Grant-Leon Ranos to intercept a loose back-pass, drive into the area and finish past Gabri for his first goal in a Tenerife shirt (0-1, 8').

The hosts held firm for the remainder of the first half. Marino had a dangerous spell before the interval, and Tenerife's best chance to double the lead came when Baba Diocou's powerful strike was saved by Gabri, with the ball then hitting the crossbar (43'). The half ended 0-1.

Cervera changed both personnel and shape at the break, switching to a back three with Noel López and Marc Mateu as wing-backs, and a front trident of Martin Pečar, Víctor Moreno and Enric Gallego. The effect was immediate.

Víctor Moreno saw a shot whistle just wide in the 47th minute, but made no mistake a minute later, collecting Noel López's cut-back from the right and finishing first-time from the penalty spot (0-2, 48'). Seven minutes later, Moreno pressed goalkeeper Juanes, robbed the ball and rolled it into an empty net for his second (0-3, 55').

Noel López got in on the act on 61 minutes, beating the Marino goalkeeper low from close range (0-4). He added his second — and Tenerife's fifth — with a fine individual run and finish on 76 minutes (0-5). Víctor Moreno completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the area to round off the scoring (0-6).

Cervera's half-time tactical reshuffle broke the game open. The switch from a 4-4-2 to a 3-4-3 with three centre-backs (José León, Joel Pérez and Jorge Moreno), wing-backs providing width, and a three-man frontline gave Tenerife superior numbers in attacking areas. Marino, who had competed well in a competitive first 45 minutes, could not cope with the increased intensity and movement after the restart. Five goals in 33 minutes told the story.

Víctor Moreno (Tenerife) — Player of the match. The winger scored his first Tenerife goal in the previous friendly against Getafe and followed it with a hat-trick here. Two poacher's finishes and a pressed goalkeeper's error showed a sharp instinct in front of goal.

Noel López (Tenerife) — A goal and an assist in the second half. His cut-back set up Moreno's opener in the second period, and he scored twice himself, the second a well-taken solo effort. His delivery from the right wing-back position was a constant threat.

Grant-Leon Ranos (Tenerife) — The German forward opened the scoring with a composed finish for his first Tenerife goal, pressing intelligently to force the defensive error that created the chance.

The 0-1 half-time scoreline undersold Tenerife's dominance in the first period — they hit the woodwork through Diocou and had several other half-chances — but the 0-6 final score reflected the gulf in fitness and sharpness between a side that began pre-season on 7 July and one that only started training on 20 July. Marino's competitive resistance in the first 45 minutes evaporated once Tenerife's second-half changes introduced fresh legs and a more aggressive attacking shape. The five-goal second half was a direct result of Cervera's willingness to rotate early and test tactical variations.

Tenerife's third pre-season friendly ended a mixed week: a 3-0 win over the B team, a 1-2 defeat to LaLiga side Getafe in the Trofeo Ciudad de Santa Cruz, and now this emphatic victory. The Blancoazul continue their preparation against UD Añaza on 29 July (18:30, Ciudad Deportiva) before facing Cádiz in the LIV Trofeo Teide on 1 August (20:00, Estadio Municipal Los Cuartos). The competitive season begins on 16 August away at Eibar (Ipurua) in LaLiga Hypermotion.

Marino, who entered pre-season a week and a half later than their opponents, continue their build-up with further friendlies ahead of the Tercera RFEF campaign.

A routine pre-season victory played out exactly as expected — Tenerife's superior fitness, squad depth and quality told after a competitive first half. Víctor Moreno's hat-trick and the seamless switch to a 3-4-3 at half-time were the two most encouraging takeaways for Cervera. The true test awaits against stronger opposition in the coming weeks.
