Chertsey Town vs Westfield (Surrey)

N. Minhas put Chertsey ahead for a third time five minutes after the restart, scoring in the 50th minute to make it 3-2.

With six minutes of normal time remaining, Chertsey were awarded a penalty and S. Bowerman stepped up to convert from the spot, making it 4-2 in the 84th minute. That proved the final goal of the game.

W. Ridgley opened the scoring inside ten minutes and was Chertsey's most productive attacking outlet in the first half. S. Bowerman showed composure from 12 yards to ice the win from the penalty spot. N. Minhas scored what proved to be the decisive goal early in the second half.

For Westfield, R. Gordon and S. Folarin both found the net in a productive first half, but the visitors could not sustain their attacking threat after the interval.

The fixture was Chertsey Town's final pre-season friendly. They entered the 2026/27 Southern League Premier Division South season — the seventh tier of English football — after this result. Westfield (Surrey) also compete in the same division and were due to begin their league campaign away to AFC Portchester on 8 August 2026.

Chertsey Town are now unbeaten in all eight meetings between the sides since their rivalry began in 2019, with four wins and four draws across those fixtures — a run Westfield have been unable to break.

A typical pre-season friendly — open, end-to-end and full of goals. Chertsey showed greater ruthlessness in both boxes, particularly after the interval, to finish their preparations with a win. Westfield will have cause for encouragement from their first-half attacking output but will need to tighten up defensively before competitive action begins.
