The match statistics tell the story of a game split into two distinct phases. Before the red card, Omonia held the better share of possession and territory. After the 34th minute, Kairat dominated the ball but managed only limited clear-cut chances — a reflection of Omonia’s disciplined defensive shape rather than Kairat’s creative quality.

For Kairat, the task is simple but difficult: they need to win by at least two goals in Kazakhstan to advance without needing extra time, or win 1-0 to force penalties. The Kazakh Premier League side will be confident at home, but the lack of an away goal leaves them needing to break down a team that has now kept a clean sheet in a Champions League knockout-style fixture while playing a man down for 56 minutes.
