Kosovo were ahead inside three minutes. Donjeta Halilaj turned home from close range after Ereleta Memeti's initial effort was parried, and the visitors never looked back.

Memeti made it 2-0 in the seventh minute, collecting a pass on the edge of the area and driving a low shot beyond the Gibraltar goalkeeper. Kaltrina Biqkaj added a third in the 14th minute, and Memeti grabbed her second of the night in the 20th minute, this time set up by Biqkaj.

Modesta Uka scored Kosovo's sixth in the 68th minute from Halilaj's pass, Smaili added her second of the night in the 76th minute after Uka turned provider, and Gentiana Fetaj completed the scoring in the 84th minute.

The match was effectively decided inside the opening 20 minutes. Kosovo's four-goal blitz inside the first quarter of the game — Halilaj (3'), Memeti (7'), Biqkaj (14'), Memeti (20') — settled any nerves and sent a clear message to Croatia, who had already finished their campaign with a 9-0 aggregate goal difference advantage over Kosovo.

Gibraltar head coach Stela Gotshall, speaking to GBC News after the match, acknowledged the predicament: "We knew that Kosovo will go with all their power on us because they tried to score as many goals as possible to beat Croatia and to win the first place."

Ereleta Memeti was the standout player, scoring twice (7', 20') and providing two assists (3', 32') in a complete attacking display. Her movement between the lines and ability to glide past Gibraltar defenders caused problems throughout.

Blerta Smaili scored a brace (32', 76'), while Donjeta Halilaj (3', assist 68') and Modesta Uka (68', assist 76%) also contributed both goals and assists.

For Gibraltar, goalkeeper Brittany Gilbert made several saves to prevent an even larger scoreline, while Joel Gilbert — who scored Gibraltar's first-ever competitive goal earlier in the campaign — worked hard without service.

Kosovo's 8-0 scoreline reflected a gulf in experience and resources: several Kosovo players compete professionally in the Bundesliga and Swiss top flight, while Gibraltar's squad is largely amateur. The 5-0 half-time score shows the match was decided long before the break; Kosovo's second-half intensity dropped slightly but they still added three more.

The result completed a hat-trick of heavy defeats for Gibraltar in the June window — 3-1 to Bulgaria on 5 June and 9-0 to Croatia on 18 April — but the side outperformed expectations in narrower defeats earlier in the cycle.

Kosovo finished level on 15 points with Croatia but claimed top spot in Group C2 with a +17 goal difference to Croatia's +15. As League C winners, Kosovo advance to the play-off round for a chance to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. They also secure promotion to League B for the next UEFA Women's Nations League.

Gibraltar end their debut World Cup qualifying campaign without a point from six matches, scoring one goal and conceding 32. They will drop into the next edition of the UEFA Women's Nations League aiming to build on the foundations laid this cycle.

Kosovo did exactly what the situation demanded — a ruthless, professional dismantling of a limited opponent to snatch the group title on the final day. Gibraltar, to their credit, never stopped competing, but the gap in quality was too wide to bridge. This campaign will be remembered in Gibraltar for the historic first competitive goal against Bulgaria, even if the scorelines were harsh.
