The match swung decisively in the opening exchanges of the second half. Bistrita led by six at the interval but had not fully shaken Iasi. When Delgado scored two quickfire goals in the 32nd minute, the lead hit eight for the first time, and Iasi coach called a timeout at 18-8 in the 35th minute. It did not stem the tide — Bistrita added another three unanswered goals to make it 21-10, and the contest was effectively over by the 40-minute mark.

They enter the season as champions after winning the 2025-26 Liga Florilor title. Iasi, promoted from Divizia A in the summer, face a steep learning curve in the top division. Both sides are next in action on 30 August according to the FRH fixture calendar.

A statement start from Bistrita. They did what champions should do against a promoted side: win emphatically, rotate the squad, and keep the foot down. The margin was not flattering. Iasi will need time to adjust, but the quality gap in this fixture was cavernous.
