Romania entered the match as heavy favourites after crushing Canada 40–15 on the opening day (24 June), while Brazil were looking to bounce back from a 39–22 defeat to Germany. The South Americans, drawn from Pot 3, started with energy and traded goals early, trailing only 8–7 after 15 minutes.

But Romania's depth told as the half progressed. Bodijar found gaps in the Brazilian defence, converting consistently from near range, while goalkeeper Florentina-Anastasia Roșu – who made 11 saves in the Canada match – again proved a difficult barrier. Romania stretched their lead to three (13–10) and carried a 16–14 advantage into the break.

The second half was a seesaw. Romania responded by tightening their defence and moving the ball quickly in transition. Brazil kept the margin within two goals for the final 15 minutes but could never draw level. Romania's 59% shooting efficiency (30/51) proved marginally superior to Brazil's 57% (28/49), and the Europeans were especially clinical from the fast break, converting 6/6 fastbreak chances compared to Brazil's 2/2.

After Brazil drew level at 21–21 with around 15 minutes remaining, Romania responded with a 4–1 run that restored a three-goal cushion. Bodijar's relentless near-range scoring – 12 of her team's goals came from the near zone – and disciplined defence in the closing stages meant Brazil could never reclaim the lead. Romania's ability to absorb pressure and execute in transition (6/6 fastbreak) proved decisive in a match where neither side held more than a three-goal advantage.

Enryka-Valentina Bodijar (Romania) – The standout performer with 10 goals from 12 attempts (83%). Her movement in the near zone was the single most influential attacking contribution on the court.

Raquel Cardoso Brandao Ladeia (Brazil) – The Brazilian right back carried her team's scoring load with 8 goals from 14 shots. She also drew two 7m penalties, converting both.

Florentina-Anastasia Roșu (Romania) – The goalkeeper anchored Romania's defence in critical second-half moments after a dominant display against Canada.

Lauendy Vitória Da Silva Vitor (Brazil) – Added 6 goals on 10 shots (60%), providing consistent scoring from the wing.

The shooting chart reveals the margins: Romania attempted 51 shots to Brazil's 49, but the key gap was from 9m range, where Romania hit 5/12 (42%) while Brazil managed only 3/12 (25%). Both teams were perfect from 6m (2/2 each) and near zone (12/12 for Romania, 11/11 for Brazil). Romania now top Group C with two wins from two (40–15 vs Canada, 30–28 vs Brazil) and have all but secured a main round berth ahead of their final preliminary match against Germany on 27 June. The Germans, who beat Canada 46–11 on the same day, are also on four points with a superior goal difference.

Brazil drop to 0–2 and must beat Canada on 27 June to have any chance of advancing as one of the best third-placed teams.

This was a far more competitive contest than the opening day scorelines suggested. Brazil showed genuine improvement after their heavy loss to Germany, matching Romania for long stretches, but lacked the fastbreak efficiency and 9m accuracy to turn parity into a lead. Romania, powered by Bodijar's prolific scoring, did enough to secure the points and look well placed for the main round.
