Austria has a proud tradition in Hockey, with the game well established across the country's alpine regions. Austria's finest moment in international Hockey came in 1947, when the national team claimed a bronze medal at the World Championship. In the early Olympic era, Austria also performed creditably, finishing among the top eight at the 1928 and 1936 Winter Games.
