Natan Vertes (Sydney Ice Dogs) — Five goals on the night, including two in 75 seconds midway through the second period. The Hungarian forward, signed in June 2026 from the Hungarian OB I Bajnoksag, finished with more individual goals than any Ice Dogs player had managed in a single game this season. His movement through the neutral zone created constant mismatches against a Lightning defence that had conceded nine goals to CBR Brave the previous week.

Bogdan Gendunov (Brisbane Lightning) — A hat-trick in a losing cause, with all three goals coming at even strength. A game with no defensive structure delivered 23 goals and exactly the result Sydney needed. Vertes' five-goal performance is the individual highlight of the AIHL season to date, but for bettors the takeaway is simpler: this fixture's H2H history (now 7-1 Sydney, averaging 11+ goals) continues to trend emphatically.
