Nizhny Novgorod vs Dynamo Moscow

Torpedo struck first. New signing Daniil Seroukh fired past Maxim Motorygin from the slot at 06:03, assisted by Andrei Belevich, after the hosts had weathered early Dynamo pressure. The period ended 1-0, though Torpedo's Ronald Briki took a late penalty that carried over.

Dynamo equalised early in the second through Magomed Sharakanov, who wove through three defenders and beat Dmitry Shugaev with an off-hand shot at 23:27. Sharakanov struck again at 27:21 — this time from the blue line through traffic — on a power play after Briki's second minor. Nikita Tertyshny made it 3-1 at 33:12, tapping in at the far post after a feed from Nikita Novikov.

In the third, Mikhail Melikov converted another power play at 49:41 (assist: Daniil Davydov). Torpedo pulled one back through Dmitry Breus at 56:46, firing from an acute angle, but Egor Rimashevsky iced it with an empty-net goal at 58:27.

Dynamo's second-period surge. Torpedo entered the period 1-0 up and had controlled much of the first, but Dynamo scored three times in 10 minutes — two from Sharakanov — flipping both the scoreline and momentum. Torpedo coach Alexey Isakov had planned a mid-game goaltender change regardless, replacing Shugaev with Dmitry Dagestansky at 32:15, but the timing underlined the shift.

• Nikita Tertyshny (Dynamo Moscow): One goal and one assist, including the primary helper on Sharakanov's second.

The overall shot counts (50-59 total, 24-37 on target) look closer than the scoreline, but the period breakdown reveals Dynamo's dominance. They outshot Torpedo 28-11 in the third period alone (21-6 on goal). Dynamo's physical edge showed in a 17-5 hits advantage and an 8-2 penalty-minute differential that produced two power-play goals. Torpedo won only 29 of 66 faceoffs (44%).

KHL official stats also recorded 59 total shots for Dynamo against 24 on target — a high volume of attempts from distance, reflecting the visitors' territorial control.

This was the first pre-season test for both KHL sides. Dynamo under head coach Leonid Tambiev showed deeper attacking options even without many first-choice players. Torpedo's Alexey Isakov fielded a deliberately experimental lineup — including 16-year-old forward Sergei Skvortsov in the second line — and said the result was secondary to evaluation.

"Interesting match. It gave us a chance to test the things we've been training," Isakov told the KHL's official website. "There are players I liked and those I have questions about." Forward Andrei Belevich added: "Too many mistakes, especially in our zone and on breakouts. We lost the tempo in the second period."

Both teams open the 2026/27 KHL regular season on 5 September: Dynamo visit Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg; Torpedo travel to Spartak Moscow.

A routine pre-season defeat for Torpedo, who competed for 20 minutes before Dynamo's class and physicality told. Sharakanov's two-goal burst was the individual highlight, but Dynamo's collective second-period response carried more significance. No alarms for either side — pre-season results carry minimal signal — but Dynamo's attacking depth already looks ahead of schedule.
