For Chaika (coached by Aleksey Podalinsky), this was their third game at the TNA Cup. They lost 3-4 in a shootout to Reaktor on 14 August before beating SKA-1946 4-3 in overtime on 15 August. The win over Avto brings their pre-season record to two wins from three TNA Cup outings.

Both teams are preparing for the 2026/27 OLIMPBET MHL season. Avto reached the MHL semi-finals (Kharlamov Cup) last season, while Chaika have won bronze medals in three consecutive seasons.
