TUTO vs Kettera

The opening period was scoreless despite minor penalties on both sides — Onni Rannikko (TUTO) and Eetu Paasovaara (Ketterä) traded roughing calls at 09:34, and Frans Kulmala (high-sticking, 12:28) and Hugo Rikkilä (tripping, 14:52) sat for TUTO. Ketterä's Väinö Tanninen stopped all 11 shots he faced in the first.

The deadlock shattered inside two minutes of the middle frame. Niklas Nordgren opened the scoring at 26:02, redirecting a feed from Emil Välilä past Tanninen, with Viljami Vuorinen also assisting. Just 96 seconds later, Viljami Vuorinen made it 2-0 at 27:38, finishing a play set up by Veikka Hämeenaho and Tuomas Turppa.

Simeon Hongisto completed the five-minute blitz at 30:45, burying a chance off Peetu Kiukas's helper to make it 3-0. TUTO had scored three goals on five shots across a 4-minute-43-second window.

In the third, Joona Korhonen stretched the lead to 4-0 at 52:39, with Roope Turunen and Samu Markkula providing the assists. Ketterä finally replied 45 seconds later — Joonatan Lempiäinen pulled one back at 53:24 to make it 4-1.

Ketterä pulled Tanninen for an extra skater at 55:48, briefly returned him at 56:43, then pulled him again at 58:40. Valtteri Karnaranta capitalised on the empty net at 58:40, with Nordgren collecting his second assist, sealing the 5-1 final.

The first period was even and goalless. Then TUTO scored three goals on five shots in under five minutes (26:02–30:45). Ketterä, having matched TUTO through 20 minutes, found themselves in a three-goal hole they never threatened to escape.

Niklas Nordgren (TUTO) — One goal and one assist, the primary catalyst in both the opening goal and the empty-net closer. His two-point night led all skaters.

Viljami Vuorinen (TUTO) — Scored the pivotal 2-0 goal and added a primary assist on Nordgren's opener. A two-point night from the blue line.

Väinö Tanninen (Ketterä) — Faced 40 shots and made 35 saves under relentless pressure. The shot count (40-24) reflects TUTO's territorial dominance; the scoreline could have been wider without his work.

Juuso Helomaa (TUTO) — Stopped all 17 shots he faced through 47:06 before giving way to Eetu Anttila (3 saves, 1 goal against).

The 5-1 scoreline tells only part of the story. TUTO outshot Ketterä 40-24, and Tanninen's 35 saves were the only reason the margin stayed at four goals. TUTO scored three goals in 4:43 of the second period — a decisive burst that turned an even game into a rout. Both teams took four minor penalties each (8 PIM apiece), and neither side converted on the power play. Ketterä's only goal came at even strength 45 seconds after TUTO's fourth. The empty-net strike extended the final margin but did not change the outcome.

This was TUTO Hockey's first pre-season friendly of summer 2026 ahead of the 2026-27 Mestis season. Ketterä also used the fixture for early preparation. The Mestis regular season typically begins in late September; TUTO's next scheduled home friendly is against Pyry on 11 September at Rajupaja Areena, while Ketterä's pre-season programme continues with their own run of preparation matches.

TUTO's second-period explosion laid down an early marker. The 5-1 scoreline flattered Ketterä slightly — Tanninen kept it from being worse — but TUTO's finishing was clinical when it mattered. For a first pre-season outing, the Turku side will be pleased with the structure and execution.
