Mountfield HK U20 vs Kolin U20

Mountfield dominated the opening period despite killing an early penalty. They opened the scoring at 16:55 on the power play when Pavel Tvrdík beat Kolín goaltender Mikuláš Wajtr top-shelf off a feed from Jiří Koryčanský, after Kolín's Pojkar was called for kneeing.

The home side carried that momentum into the second period. Matyáš Krögler went end-to-end at 21:49, receiving a pass from Tomáš Zikmund in his own zone and finishing from the slot to make it 2-0. At 29:01, Filip Brzák pounced on a loose puck that dribbled out of Wajtr's glove after a shot from Luděk Pour, tapping into an open net for 3-0.

Kolín pulled one back before the second intermission. At 38:47, Tadeáš Pražan cleaned up a blocked Jakub Hornych shot, firing past Adam Voráček to make it 3-1 heading into the third.

Mountfield controlled much of the third period and had several chances to seal the win, but Wajtr stood firm. Two penalties against Mountfield — Vaněk (high stick, 49:28) and Václavíček (hooking, 53:24) — gave Kolín life, though the visitors failed to score on either power play.

Then came the avalanche. At 56:36, a Mountfield attack broke down and Lukáš Tobišek scored on a counter-attack, beating a scrambling Voráček to cut the deficit to 3-2. Kolín pulled Wajtr for an extra attacker and called a timeout at 58:06. It paid off 39 seconds later: Denis Horný received a pass at the blue line and blasted a shot into the top corner to make it 3-3 at 58:45.

Overtime lasted just 1:44. Matyáš Paďour carried the puck out of Kolín's zone and found Tadeáš Pražan on a 2-on-1 rush. Pražan beat Voráček to the left post for his second goal of the game and the 4-3 winner.

This was a pre-season friendly for both Czech junior sides — Mountfield (U20 Extraliga, 13th in 2025/26) and Kolín (Liga juniorů, 5th in 2025/26 after a quarter-final exit). For Mountfield, blowing a 3-0 lead is a warning sign ahead of the new season. For Kolín, the resilience shown by scoring three unanswered goals in the final 3:24 of regulation and adding the OT winner will build confidence. Both teams continue their pre-season schedules in the coming weeks ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

A game that looked like a routine Mountfield win turned into a pre-season classic. Kolín's refusal to fold after trailing 3-0 — and their clinical execution with the extra attacker and in overtime — made the difference. Mountfield will rue the penalties and missed chances that let the game slip away.
